A 32-year-old Czech man fell fatally while trying to take a selfie on a cliff at Bang Khun Si waterfall on Koh Samui. In doing so, he ignored a ban on entering the cliff.

The man fell about 30 meters and his body had to be recovered by rescuers. He traveled with a group of eight Czech tourists who arrived in Thailand on February 5 and headed straight to Koh Samui. There she rented motorcycles to explore the island. On Thursday, they visited Bang Khun Si waterfall.

His fellow travelers told police that the man walked to the edge of the cliff to take pictures and ignored the entry ban. He slipped while trying to take a selfie and fell on a partially submerged rock plateau. His friends tried to resuscitate the man. It took police, military and rescue workers about three hours to recover the body.

According to Samitasak Suttara, tourism chief of Suarat Thani province, the cliff is part of a catchment area near the waterfall and is not open to visitors, but some tourists ignore the warning signs.

This is already the third fatality in a few years, three others have been seriously injured in waterfalls.

  1. Pat says up

Still incomprehensible that an adult man ignores such a prohibition and thinks it does not apply to him.
Why are so many people so unreasonable and elusive and reckless?

This now costs him his life and he leaves family and friends behind with a lot of grief, all for a photo.

Well, if it were a classic accident, I sympathized.
