Thaksin criticizes current Prayut government
Prime Minister Prayut does not want to comment on the comments of deposed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Thaksin told journalists that the balance sheet of the military regime's first year of government "is not very impressive". Thaksin attended the 6th Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul yesterday.
Thaksin had previously sounded critical notes. Bangkok Post quotes some recent statements: “They (the military junta) need to work harder and they need to know how the world works today. They also have to put themselves in the shoes of the population that is used to democracy.”
Thaksin would like a successful government, but according to him that is now difficult to imagine. He also stressed that he has no plans to mobilize Red Shirt supporters against the military regime. “I think that sooner or later the call for democracy will prevail, but we must be patient and not resort to violence.”
Prime Minister Prayut does not comment on Thaksin's statements, except that he wonders whether Thaksin also mentioned the things he has achieved: "The people must judge me by my actions," Prayut said.

He's right about that.
There are many plans and promises, but they all fail, or you wonder what their value is exactly.
I recently read something about the costs of private hospitals.
They could not be too expensive, but of course they could earn money.
That not too expensive, however, meant that they could charge 7 to 8 times more than a state hospital.
I wonder if that means that the costs of private hospitals will now rise sharply.
Because medicines that you can sell eight times as expensive as a state hospital must still be substantial profit makers.
.
Nothing but empty words, from a cunning Selfish dictator, who is again eager for power and self-enrichment.
Look in the mirror first, I would say, what he himself has stolen and done.
After many corpses in the closet, of this greed family, it's never been better!
It just takes more time to clear debris.
Peter,
The fact that people can vote does not mean that there is a democracy (see America) and the people are probably listened to more now than under Thaksin or his sister. I also hear quite a lot of Thai say that, although Prayut also makes mistakes - one wonders who doesn't - that they are quite satisfied and give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
The dissatisfaction of the Thais will increase if results are not forthcoming . Don't forget that the economy is not rising - tourist numbers are going down - partly due to strange policy decisions such as the beaches closed on Wednesday in Pattaya and Jomtien - the chairs away on Phuket etc .
Calling Thaksin Shinawatra a dictator is a bit strange - The man and his sister Yinluck were just democratically elected and Thaksin in particular brought the country into the greatest economic growth ever!
His party members will win again in new elections - because they are simply in the majority Prayut - Suthep (the man of all misery is going to come back to politics again and is no longer a monk) etc despite it!
dyna
You have huge scales in front of your eyes. Thaksin HAS NEVER BEEN democratically elected, My girlfriend at the time received 1500 Baht if she voted blank, so that the (“people”) in the polling station could fill in thaksin themselves. You probably have a red girlfriend from a job NOK. These are people who don't understand politics. and vote for him because they got a minimum of 500 B. You have to be very blind not to see that he was 10x worse than Italy's Berlusconi. He stole billions from Thailand and was able to get his stupid little sister elected in the same way.
Thailand has never been better since Prayuth has been in charge.
I had legal problems and was scammed by lawyers and prosecutors, with the help of lawyers from Prayuth this was straightened out.
Prayuth said: if an official is corrupt, he will be removed immediately, and if his colleague knew this, so would he. Thailand is slowly becoming an honest country.
I can hope for Thailand that Prayuth stays in power for another 5 years.
And Thaksin will get the prison sentence he more than deserves. Lifetime!
Long live Prayuth and all honest people in this fine land.
you don't think that all the people who voted for thaksin paid - there were millions of them.
Once again he was the first elected MP and perhaps also the last - generals belong in the barracks, they probably think so in Udon. Do you really think that corruption is over? How do you think the mayor of Pattaya was appointed? The economy is going bad - never been so bad, the bath is losing its power - the tourists are staying away, etc. What do you mean, it's better to be quiet, yes......
In addition to paying the people who voted for him, he also paid for the buses that drove from Chiang may to Bangkok. On those buses were Thais who were paid 500 Baht a day if they wanted to kick as much shit as possible in Bangkok. Setting fire in large shopping malls, that's what the red scum did. So I can write several pages of dirty tricks that Thaksin did, alone, just to line his own pockets. He spent 2 or maybe 3% in the small ridge villages. Here he was very sad with a camara team that the roads were so bad. A month later he came back with the same team so that he could show on TV in the evening that everything was nicely asphalted. Of course it's a gem.
But he already had a multiple of this amount in his own pocket. His wife fled abroad on a charter when it got too hot under her feet, but took 60 suitcases of cash with her. Please look in “the Nation”. this was not mentioned in the regular newspapers, why not? These were largely owned by Thaksin.
And the corruption will not be over for a while, because it has been impregnated in society as a whole for decades. Here people think you're crazy if you don't participate in this.
That tourists stay away is only because of a much too expensive Baht. Not so long ago you got 48 B for your euro. Last month, when foreigners went to book their holiday, it was at 33 B. So a holiday would have cost hundreds of euros more.
Thailand is doing badly financially because nothing can be exported anymore.
The Baht has remained too high for too long because Thaksinian bank directors were active.
He fired the original directors and put friends of his in these posts.
He also did this with the highest police posts.
Then you can't lose anymore, then you will even be helped by the police if you do wrong things!
Sensible people are now slowly lowering the Baht (too late) but this will do Thailand a lot of good.
Fortunately, there are also decent people in Thailand, who have knocked him out.
And now he's croaking dumb in a foreign country that doesn't have an extradition treaty.
Of course it is a pity about the food stalls that are now gone. But that too had become a proliferation. People with shops that did pay taxes had no customers anymore.
And in many places you could no longer walk on the sidewalk and you had to go on the roadway.
Life is dangerous there because a considerable part of the drivers is drunk.
Wishing you a long life and years of work for an honest but strict Prayuth.
Thailand needs that.
Dear Mr. John Udon.
Unfortunately, the practice is different.
Votes were also bought at the Yellows , and not just a little bit .
Always and everywhere , even on Tambon ( village ) level , I see it every time .
This is Thailand.
Jan Beute.
Dear Mr. Jan Beute
Something similar will happen within each group.
But this cannot have happened on a large scale, because there was no black with yellow and no big money either.
At Thaksin the money was available as monopoly money, with which he could play games.
You can only eat one pork chop a day, but if you have enough money to eat out with your whole family of uncles and aunts plus children for the next 10.000 years.
Then money is toy money.
Greetings Jan
JanUdon for president, Jan you shouldn't believe everything that is written in newspapers. It remains a regime, so it is closely monitored what is and what is not written. I don't think you or I or the Thai people know exactly what is going on in this country.
Thaksin's great economic growth was based on taking on debt.
People who could not afford to borrow money at all also received loans.
That money has all been spent on mobile phones and other gadgets.
Only the debts remained when the gadgets were worn out.
And people now have huge amounts of debt.
As a guest I can only say that it hasn't been this quiet in Thailand for a long time.
I think he can stay for a while.
Yes, thanks to the noble general and his countless selfless and brilliant soldiers, Thailand is heading for golden times!
The most important yardstick for gauging a country's condition is its economic growth rate. Well, in the period of Thaksin, masses of large companies (automotive industry, electronics, etc.) came to Thailand. Due to the cheap loans, much more was bought and therefore also produced.
During those years, the rate of economic growth was 8 to 12%.
And from the moment Suthep (supported by 8% of the population in a few provinces) started rioting, the path became bright for Prayut and his soldiers.
And as mentioned: economy and tourism are slacking. Economic growth is declining: now less than 3,5%.
Dear Yvan Temmerman
That happened with beautiful promises!
But because Thaksin was filling his pockets, there was no money to dig some water drainage canals. As a result, these newly built companies with all their computer-controlled equipment were under water up to 2 meters, and a large part had to be replaced.
Dutch hydraulic engineers presented solutions to Thailand, but the reds were too arrogant to accept this. Or was Thaksin afraid that the money would have to stay in Thailand because of this.
In Thailand the largest production Hard disks were built, all their production machines were ruined. Many companies have moved to Malaysia.
Cambodia has also built a huge port complex with industrial estates.
Burma (Myanmar) has largely converted to normal people, so large companies are now also going there.
This is the main reason why things are slow in Thailand right now.
Not only Suthep but many like Shonty (name probably spelled incorrectly) have seen the light, and despite they say they only had 8% support they initiated good times
And the economic growth of 8 to 12% was feek. And has fallen into the water due to Thaksin's mismanagement.
Up to more than 2 meters deep.
Prayut must now first clear the rubble in Thailand before things get better.
And yet you see and feel all the results.
And Thailand is heading into golden times, to give the previous speaker some support.
what results then? Corruption is apparently disappearing a bit - but it is still there to a large extent. Thailand will slowly slide back into a real third world country if this dictatorship continues. The fishing problem is never stopped - so is the trade with Europe - then Ameirka follows. There is no investor who still wants to invest in a banana republic.
I do not consider the figure of economic growth to be the only indicator of the state of a country. Shouldn't significant income inequality, lack of social services, neglected infrastructure, heavy debt and massive corruption also be taken into account?
The downturn in the Thai economy is a natural consequence of short-term short-term thinking in Thailand. The situation Prayuth now finds himself in is a logical result of the policies of him and all his predecessors, including Thaksin. (Is Thailand currently pricing itself out of the market? Personally, I feel that since 1999, I've been getting less and less value for my money every year.)
Sooner or later the shore will have to turn the ship.
Definition of economic growth:
Economic growth is usually measured as the increase in real gross national product (GNP). The increase indicates how much more goods and services have become available to the economy in the past period. GDP growth is an imperfect yardstick for measuring welfare growth, because it does not take into account, for example, environmental pollution, housework and possible effects on future generations.
If environmental effects and future generations are taken into account, then there is sustainable economic growth.
Thailand was rapidly sliding into an unprecedented spiral of violence towards civil war until May 22, 2014.
Thanks to the military, many corrupt cases and people have been successfully dealt with.
Suppose they had not intervened, but a civil war had taken place.
After the coup, the attacks and (sometimes) random killings stopped, not unimportantly.
Any idea how bad the economy would have been right now?
Even though the military do not deserve a beauty prize, it seems to me a matter of making a choice of the lesser evil.
Chop that hood on Thailand, Pedro & stuff
