Thai Prime Minister Prayut surrenders 3 months salary
During a video conference at the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha announced that he will be donating his three-month salary to help those in need due to the Covid-19 pandemic. be helped.
At least 15 deputy prime ministers, ministers and deputy ministers have joined this plan. It concerns ministers of various Thai parties.
The group can be expanded with members of parliament who also want to participate in this action. The chairman of parliament does note that several parliamentarians already spend more than their monthly salary on aid for victims of the crisis situation.
How the promised salary offer will be spent has not (yet) been announced.
A noble act by the senior Thai government officials, perhaps a good idea for Dutch and Belgian ministers and parliamentarians? After all, a good example leads to good follow-through.

What a noble gesture! Is there an election coming up?
But don't be afraid that ministers and members of parliament will soon have to make do with some glutinous rice, leaves from a bush and a fish from the rice field. Prayut is a retired general and must have a pension from that and the gentleman probably has a few satang in the bank.
Hopefully this money will go to well organized aid.
Incidentally, the prime minister has a salary of 75 k baht per month plus an 'allowance' of 50 k per month. And in this light, take a look at the income requirement of 65 k per month for retired emigrants….. They rate us quite high…
What Prayut "donates" to the Thai people is a joke when you consider the wealth of him or any other minister, accumulated during their time in parliament.
On the internet people say F.ck or Prayut, we don't want your tip, we want you to fuck off.
Well, the Thai is quite rebellious, fortunately they are, but will make it through, Prayut wants to rule for another 10 years and it is assumed that he will succeed, bad government or not, so I am afraid that the average Thai will not improve during the administration of this government. Sad.
The Netherlands has plenty of money. NL has been able to incur billions of euros in costs to combat corona. Three months' salary of ministers and representatives will not make a difference. It is better to raise the minimum wage so that with retroactive effect to July 1st, our state pension is increased somewhat. Because Thailand visitors spend a large part of it in Thailand, this also ends up with a good cause.
I heard he felt compelled because the governor of Pathum Thani had already taken that initiative.
Moreover, his popularity is declining, so he must have thought it was time for a publicity stunt.
The fifty richest "men" have become about $ 2020 billion richer in the Covid year 28.
That is more than 900 billion baht or 18 billion pp.
Let him ask them if they want to distribute it among the population, they will surely do that for him.
He can play comedy well, his time is almost up.
And I think a popular uprising won't last long. The people are fed up with the government, even in Bangkok! They're waiting for a vaccine that isn't there, and the vaccine isn't even free.
This will surely help the Thai people!!
A "grand" gesture, but I feel that the Thai people would benefit more from structural, supportive measures. And we don't see it.
We call this gesture…”cloth for bleeding”. Incomprehensible.
I don't think his salary is a very important source of income for him.
Wonderful, isn't it, 3 months salary that doesn't hurt him and his fellow comrades, who still have to give the people the feeling that they are being taken care of, and then perhaps hope that the spirit Phi phuu Vaccine will automatically do the rest.
Or would it be more effective if they actually fulfilled their duty, so that more vaccine comes, and faster vaccination becomes possible?
Since he took office, his bank account has increased by 700 million… And that does not come from a pension or a salary.
I remember his promise a year ago that Thais would get THB 5000 for three months,
The people I speak to have not seen that Thb 5000. What they do see is sheer desperation because businesses have closed; the despair because there is no more money to pay for the basic necessities. What they do see are police officers with a very flexible concept of integrity and finally there is that second epidemic in Thailand, which is claiming more victims due to the government's pitiful policy: suicide.
Fortunately, the Thai now have an app with which the government reimburses half of their daily purchases. Up to a maximum of 150 thb. It really sucks here…
They are better off depositing their total income for 3 months, which will most likely help more than just the salary.
