Koh Si Chang

A 24-year-old Thai man has been arrested for raping and murdering a 27-year-old German woman. Her body was found on Koh Si Chang (Chonburi) on Sunday night.

The body of the German woman, whose name has not yet been released because her family must be informed first, was found by a tourist who was taking pictures on the island. He alerted the police. The police went on a hunt for the perpetrator who they quickly caught because he was behaving strangely. The man, a resident of Koh Si Chang, was taken in for questioning and after three hours he confessed to raping and then murdering the woman.

The suspect stated that he saw the victim riding a rented motorcycle on the island. He tried to start a conversation with her, but the woman did not want to hear from the man. The suspect then followed her to a rocky path towards Mount Phra Chulachomklao where he assaulted her. He killed her because otherwise she would go to the police and report him.

The man is being held in custody and brought before a judge.
