Thailand will get 2.796 kilometers of highways
The Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning has included seven highway construction projects in the Motorway Development Masterplan. It is a total length of 2.796 kilometers. These projects will cost 1,27 trillion baht.
The plan will be submitted to the Ministry of Transport for review. These are highways in the North, Northeast, the central part and the South.

The photo illustrating the article speaks volumes. An employee in 'casual clothes', who shovels hot tar on sandals. There is no question of any protection for employees, as is unfortunately the case for many more professions in Thailand.
well,
That is quite a lot, 7 projects with an average length of 400 km…………..
That is Groningen > Maastricht, and that 7 times……..
Too bad they don't have real highways here, without private driveways.
If, as everywhere in the Western World, one will make a ramp with an overpass every 5 km, the fatalities will also decrease quickly, because there is nothing more dangerous than a U turn.
1,26 billion Thai Baht I assume. Billion is Billion in Dutch. Still quite a bit of money. Always confusing.
No. The article talks about 'trillion', which is trillion in Dutch.
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/1697544/otp-pushes-b1-2-trillion-of-motorways
Now just the maintenance of the other roads and we will be completely happy.
Hopefully also road safety measures, such as separate U-turns and longer insertion lanes!
Working traffic lights with violation control!
Where does Thailand keep getting that money? Probably from China, which wants to add another province after Hong Kong.
It is a pity that after two years those roads are already full of potholes and cracks and with the tracks of trucks. Road construction in this country is the neglected child in terms of quality or is there more behind it like, for example, I don't mean anything by it, filling the right back pockets?
Oh well, the money is gone. They're going to build tunnels, flyovers and skyways everywhere.
The idea, for example, is to build the 1 from Bangkok to Myanmar (Chiang Rai) as a Motorway.
I usually reside about 40 m above Uttaradit and wonder every time I drive from Lake Sirikit to Uttaradit via the 1045.
This road (1045) has never had any problems until the intersection with the 11 (AH13). I've never seen a traffic jam there in 8 years. A few accidents, but never really serious. The road is seen from Uttaradit up to 3 km past the 11. 2 times 2 lanes.
First, someone in Uttaradit has decided to move all provincial buildings and services to the 11 from the roundabout with the 1045 towards Phrae. Furthermore, one wants to promote tourism? What can be seen besides a lot of plastic along the road in this region. Oh Lake Sirikit with the Sirikit dam and of course local customs eh dumping waste where possible.
Subsequently and because of the expected extra crowds from Laos?? The idea of providing the entire 1045 with 2 x 2 lanes has also been implemented. Oh, I understand from the executor that it only concerns the road for the time being. The bridges and other works of art will come later?
My contact with the contractor is because I bought 2 clean trucks with good agricultural land (nice fat black soil) To raise part of the garden (5 rai) around the house and improve the soil (mixing).
Because of course the intersection with the 11 also needs to be adjusted (it has been working on it 7 days a week and 7 hours a day for half a year.
The fact that all further crossings via the 11 (Chainat) and also via the 1 route are all approximately level is of course not taken into account.
To be able to make the tunnel, a mega roundabout has been “temporarily” constructed.
This is actually the best solution but yes there must be a tunnel.
The funny thing is that the NAN river flows less than 200 meters away. So no account has been taken of a “high water” situation and or of course “rain”.
Got to see that the construction pit was filled with a meter of water after a heavy rain shower. Oh yes, the tunnel tubes are already there. But a drainage or water discharge is nowhere to be seen.
There is also, and I have already noticed that a few times with the new widened road, a "groundwater" problem. So excavations have been done for the road bed. These are therefore largely under water. So now you already know that even after filling up, the upward water pressure “propulsion” will cause road subsidence.
So we are now driving from the north via the newly renovated 1213 and 4009. Is a good asphalt road. The 1213 is two lanes, but so is the 1045. Even after widening because the bridges in this road (1045) will come later??
