Thailand has a new Queen

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has issued a Royal Command announcing that General Suthida Vajiralongkorn has been appointed Queen of Thailand after Ayudhya as of May 1, 2019.

According to a report in the Royal Gazette, HM the King is legally and in accordance with royal traditions married to the new Queen. As a member of the Royal Family, the new Queen will be known as Queen Suthida. Queen Suthida is expected to assist her husband during official coronation occasions. after the
Background
The new Queen was the King's bodyguard. In 2014, the King appointed Suthida Tidjai, a former Thai Airways flight attendant, as deputy commander of his bodyguard unit. In 2017 she was appointed General. She also received the royal title Thanpuyingwerd, which means Lady. Connoisseurs of the Thai royal family had already noticed the romantic development of Suthida and the King, but the relationship was never officially confirmed.
