The Thai government will hold a ceremony in memory of King Bhumibol on Tuesday and ask the people to do the same.

Government spokesman Sansern said the meeting is also meant as a tribute to all the kings of the Chakri dynasty.

At eight o'clock, officials will sing the national anthem in front of the Thai Khu Fah building (on the grounds of the Government House). Prime Minister Prayut will then lead an oath of allegiance before a portrait of the king, followed by the singing of the royal song 'Sansoen Phra Barami'.

The government has asked government departments to also hold a ceremony, which can then be attended by the population. The government ceremony will be broadcast live on TV. Thai abroad has been asked to participate as well.

Sansern also wants the population to engage in social activities on Tuesday, following the king's lead. As an example, he mentions cleaning public spaces, visiting the sick and holding reading sessions for the blind.

If it's okay with Prayut, I'll just go and work at the university. I think the best way to honor the late king.
