The national infectious disease commission has approved the draft proposal for the national quarantine policy. The committee agrees with the proposal to shorten the mandatory quarantine period for returning Thai and foreigners from 14 to 10 days.

Speaking after yesterday's meeting, Health Minister Anutin said the plan supports reopening the country to tourists and reviving the economy stricken by the pandemic.

In the four days that elapse, the Department of Disease Control monitors returnees or tourists. They are followed and must adhere to social distancing rules, avoid crowded places and wear a face mask in public.

The proposal will be submitted to the CCSA for decision.

I am curious if the mandatory hotels in Bangkok for the mandatory quarantine stay, their prices will also be adjusted, I looked again a few days ago and the least expensive hotel available for 2 weeks was +- 51.000 Thb .!?

      • The least expensive hotel costs 29.000 baht.

This is their email: [email protected] and then the corresponding website is also easy to find if you need it.

The cheapest hotel Princeton has dropped its price to 27.000 baht.
Trying to book there now. At their request, I have now emailed my passport and flight schedule, after which I had to fill in an extensive questionnaire.
I have been annoyed by the requirement that a couple must present a copy of the marriage certificate.

Dear Niek, is it possible for me to forward the website of the hotel, please. [email protected]. With thanks.!

Seems syerk to me, the ASQ I'm currently in cost me 32000 thb, and there are even cheaper ones. By the way, it's fine here, microwave, enough TV channels, do have an android box with me, and the food is fine.

Remarkably enough, this time no announcements about a difference in origin from high- and low-risk countries. I will soon be entering the procedure for a Certificate of Entry based on marriage. Would be nice if the detention period is actually reduced by 4 days.

Yes, it doesn't matter whether you come from a high or low risk country because you undergo 3 PCR tests.

Bert Minburi. I understand that the procedure for applying for the COE will change from 02 November. Appears to be happening online now https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=5201545239870939&id=561189703906539

Oh thank you Thai government for this 1984 scenario, you are way too good for us, what do we owe this to?

Well those 4 days will be there forever because even long before the Covid 19 crisis, people wanted to keep a constant eye on every foreigner. The fence is off the dam and Covid 19 is a gift from heaven for the Megalomaniac Elite.

We are being directed as puppets ((worldwide) under penalty of sanctions, fines and even prison sentences.
Now it is clear to me where the proverb pulling the strings comes from. But I know there are people who love that, and they are lucky again.

It is really impossible to comprehend what kind of twilight zone we have ended up in. it looks like a horror movie (Doomsday 2008 – Outbreak 1995 etc.)

    Happy holiday everyone.

      @KhunKarel,
Having a conspiracy vision is of course always allowed, but why should Europe be in the same game as Thailand?
And then something else, in Thailand you can just go to the catering industry, right? Something they can dream of on other continents. Then the elite is doing well, right... normal life vs lock down until Christmas?

I completely agree with you. Nice that 4 days go off, but I have to disappoint people who think this makes a huge difference: this is literally a drop in the ocean. The way governments, "the ruling elite", are dealing with this virus is embarrassing, laughable and deeply sad at the same time.

I will no longer enter into discussions, to those who want to defend the measures: you have my victory. Can you enter Thailand by humiliating yourself: feel free to do so. But do realize that Thailand is in few ways the Thailand before February this year. And those who say it is: lying is not nice. Or they are talking about their village somewhere afterwards in the Isaan, that is also possible.

Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Chiang Mai... the tourist hotspots are (now) broken.

Life in a village in Isan is the real life in Thailand and not much has changed there, except that poverty has increased.
But actually that is nothing new.
The tourist centers are no more than a large stage, where the tourist himself participates in the performance.

Furthermore, after all the criticism that is constantly being thrown at the Thai government, I am actually very curious how tourism should be started.
Suppose Thailand opens its borders and tourists flock to the bars in Pattaya.
How many days / hours would it take before a massive Corona epidemic broke out among holidaymakers?
What is the chance of survival of those infected tourists, given the quality of Thai healthcare?

      • Niek says up

This has not yet been confirmed by the government.

    • Bart says up

Indeed. If you are not allowed to visit busy places for four days, then there is not much left than to stay in a room. I certainly don't expect you to be able to go to the airport or bus terminal to continue on to your final destination.

Even though the quarantine has gone from 14 to 10 days, I predict that the "ordinary" tourist will ignore Thailand. Before you can leave, you are already a few hundred euros further on all kinds of requirements that you have to meet. The average tourist who has a holiday of no more than 30 days really does not spend a third of that time alone in a hotel against a hefty payment and then also become a digital follow-up.
I'm afraid that before everything goes back to "normal" we will be at least a year further unless the Thai government would rather see us go than come as it seems so far.
