To protect tourists and deter criminals, the police now have access to the images from 300 additional cameras in the Patong entertainment area, writes Phuket Gazette.

The 300 private and 32 police cameras are connected to three control rooms. From there, the police can monitor the area. The initiative is part of the Patong Safety Zone

The 32 high-quality cameras installed by the police are targeting areas prone to crime such as Soi Bangla, Sainamyen Road, Nanai Road and Kalim Road. By also linking 300 private cameras to the control room, its effectiveness is increased.

The Thais like to have fun. Well over 300 Kameras?. Come on now. And the police?. Who has more than 300 more eyes to keep an eye on all that? And how much video recording equipment did they get? Because you can then provide evidence afterwards. And where is on the street. what should + be done immediately if things go wrong again? Have a few hundred more been added? The best remedy against this Mafia is simply not to go there. I have never been robbed in the beautiful and healthy hill country of Northern Thailand. Martin

    I totally agree with Martin.
If you want to go to an Island if necessary, there are so many beautiful Islands in Thailand,
so just don't go to phuket.

Why so negative? Personally, I am happy with this action. In any case, there has now been a response. Whether the necessary action will also take place remains to be seen, but the police have now received several resources to act, which is positive.

Hahaha now they can collect even more money from tourists who cross the line. Can now demonstrate it by video images. Mafia goes with the times hahahha.

I think this is a bit double, I myself also visited Phuket and surrounding islands last January / February.
And yes it is more expensive and yes the newspaper is full of nasty incidents, but the island remains a paradise on earth if you look at the beaches and nature.
And the surrounding islands of unparalleled beauty should not be missed.
Just read up on it and don't do stupid things and you'll be fine.
