The Department of Disease Control (DDC) is sounding the alarm about the advance of the SOA, syphilis in teens and young adults. Data from the DDC shows that 36,9 percent of new syphilis infections last year were in the 15 to 24 age range. At least 30 percent do not use a condom.

According to DDC director-general Suwanchai, the increase is an indication of the increasing preference for unsafe sex, which also increases the risk of infection with the HIV virus.

Syphilis is a rare, serious STD caused by a bacteria. Syphilis is treatable. If you don't, the consequences will be serious. Syphilis has different stages:

  • During the first stage, a hard, painless sore forms in or around the mouth, penis, or anus. The sore will disappear on its own, but the bacteria will spread through your body through the blood.
  • In the second stage you may experience a flu-like feeling, hair loss or spots on your skin.
  • If you keep walking with it for a long time, you can get damage to your internal organs (the third stage). The third stage hardly occurs in the Netherlands anymore. The disease is usually detected and treated earlier.

Syphilis can be treated well with a high dose of antibiotics (via injections), but even if you have been treated successfully, you can contract syphilis again afterwards.

Fearfully silent with the Thai governments regarding the AIDS problem.
Special hospitals for dying AIDS patients overcrowded.

Warning information from the government has not been observed in recent years.
Relevant data are no longer observed in recent years!

Apparently this would not promote tourism.

I saw you write this earlier in another thread. It is absolute nonsense what you write.
I have some friends who work in Thailand for organizations that educate about HIV and help HIV infected patients for help at ordinary hospitals. They are very active and can be found during festivals, at shopping malls, etc. You also see them writing on social media such as Facebook almost every day. And yes the Thai government supports them. The Thai government also ensures that – as Tino also writes below – that people infected with HIV receive free medicines and continuous checks for life. and the medicines they get are the same as they get in the Netherlands, I have seen.

'Special hospitals for dying AIDS patients overcrowded'.

Can you tell me more about that? Which hospitals? Where?

As far as I know, the number of new HIV patients is declining, and now about 6.000 a year. In addition, almost everyone now receives free HIV inhibitors.
