Navanakorn completely submerged
Ten factories in the Navanakorn industrial estate in Pathum Thani province were flooded after a tidal wall on the north side collapsed and part of the site was flooded.
The water reached a height of 1,5 to 2 meters. Workers and residents living in the area were ordered to evacuate by the government. Because they all fled at the same time, traffic chaos ensued on Phahon Yothin road. Five hundred workers try to close the gap.
Navanakorn has 227 factories employing 180.000 workers. The invested value is 100 billion baht. It is the sixth industrial estate to have fallen prey to the water. Five industrial estates in Ayutthaya province were previously flooded. The factories on Navanakorn have been advised to cease production.
Prime Minister Yingluck has ordered the army to mobilize personnel to help get rid of the water. Helicopters bring in containers. [According to a message from yesterday, there are already 625 soldiers. How many containers have been placed and where? Is it effective?]
Opposition leader Abhisit accuses the Flood Relief Operations Center on Don Mueang of underestimating the problem on Navanakorn. An hour after Minister Pracha Promnok (Justice) gave the assurance that the site would be spared, the water poured in.
It is of course a drama what is happening in Thailand. My mind goes
to all those poor people who have lost everything and especially to the hundreds of thousands who have lost their jobs and their families are now in dire poverty
have to leave behind. Where are all those figures who have benefited from the
low standard of living of the population. There is no social safety net here.
Let those billionaires give something back. If not. They'll come get it themselves.
Payback time come, even if you try to keep them as stupid as possible.
