State Secretary Wiebes wants to reclaim 168 million euros from people who reside abroad and who have wrongly received benefits. This is stated in a letter to the House of Representatives, NOS writes.

It concerns more than 100.000 people in 189 countries. They have received benefits incorrectly, for example because they stopped their rent benefit too late. The message does not state whether there are Dutch people who reside in Thailand.

A large number of Dutch people abroad will soon receive a letter from the tax authorities. Wiebes wants to cooperate with the authorities abroad to track down people whose address is unknown. There will also be a trial with private collection agencies abroad.

By the way, it's okay not always fraud. People are often negligent. According to Wiebes, the outstanding claims are “a direct consequence of the allowance system in which advances are paid.” It is only afterwards that it is determined what people are actually entitled to.

Ridiculous system those allowances. abolish and arrange according to the level of income, rent terminated, then automatically no more discount! Simple and effective!

Typically Dutch! Start reclaiming money while you know that in practice nothing will come of it! Politically correct talk. That whole allowance system with advances has gone wild.

I'm afraid very little will come back. And there will also be people who live in Thailand.
Someone lives in Thailand who wrongly received the tid savings fund money in his account, his response was I'm here now and won't come back anyway and keep the money. It was almost 7.000,00 euros from someone who worked in construction and can now whistle for the money. Unfortunately I am not allowed to tell you who that person is due to privacy law.

If that person had told me about his behavior, I would have let him know in an unmistakable way that it is very despicably low to the ground.
In short, an ordinary profiting scammer, yuck!

As a private person you are not bound by this, so as far as I am concerned you can make it public, fraud must be denounced, even if it was not your fault, but you do benefit from it, while someone else gets into trouble.
