King calls for unity and solidarity

It's a pity I can't read minds, because what was the king thinking when he stressed the importance of unity and solidarity and the need to work together for the common good in his birthday speech yesterday? And what did the Crown Prince think when he said 'We promise to behave well and to the best of our ability to follow the example set by His Majesty'?

But let me not spoil the fun, because yesterday the slingshots of the anti-government demonstrators were unused in the closet, there was no stone throwing and there were tears, but they were not caused by the use of tear gas.

Lots of yellow on the street, also pink, portraits of the king and in the evening the so-called candle-lit ceremony. Millions of people must have participated. Neighbors were also standing in my street with a candle in their hand, they sang and lifted the candle three times.

Celebrations were also held at the protest locations of the anti-government demonstrators: at the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Avenue, in the government complex on Chaeng Wattana Road and in the Ministry of Finance. There were 'religious ceremonies, cultural performances and talk shows about His Majesty's works' all day long.

In Hua Hin where the king has lived in Klai Kangwon palace since his release from the hospital, a military parade took place (many bearskin hats, colorful uniforms, medals, sashes, stiff marching), after which the king in a Volkswagen van, accompanied by the crown prince , drove from the Piamsuk villa to the Rajpracha Samakhom pavilion. There, soldiers led by army commander-in-chief Tanasak Patimapragorn took the oath of allegiance to the monarch.

Bangkok Post further reports today that the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order, which is in charge of enforcing the Internal Security Act that applies to Bangkok, has set up a public relations team; that anti-government demonstrators wonder what exactly action leader Suthep Thaugsuban means by his 'People's Council' and that the red shirts will hold a rally in Ayutthaya on Tuesday in support of the government and as a protest against the opposing party.
