All shops and street vendors in Bangkok must cease their activities from midnight to 5 a.m. to fight the spread of the corona virus. With 750 registered infections, the capital has the highest number of patients.

Governor Aswin, who ordered the closure, says the municipality will not impose a curfew for now. The municipality is not authorized to do so, only the Covid-19 Administration Center can do that.

The stay-at-home order issued by some provinces is not a curfew, Aswin says. “We are asking people for their cooperation. So stay home as much as possible and don't travel.”

About 70 percent of Thais would adhere to social distancing. That's according to a recent poll by the Department of Mental Health.

The governor is still concerned about people going to work. This group is vulnerable to the virus and can transmit it to others without showing any symptoms. Aswin believes that working from home should be promoted more. If the situation does not improve, the BCA is prepared to take more measures.

In Bangkok, all public and private parks will close until April 30, including parks near condos and in neighborhoods. It turned out that many people still gather there and do not keep enough distance.
