The municipality of Bangkok has started cleaning the surface water after Loy Krathong. That already yielded six tons of krathongs.

The good news is most krathongs nowadays are made from natural materials such as bread. Until yesterday, 661.935 krathongs had been collected in Bangkok, 93,7 percent of which are made of natural material. A small part is still made of styrofoam (Styrofoam), which does not decay. The natural krathongs are ground into manure, the styrofoam krathongs are recycled.

The number of krathongs that have been cleared is considerably less than last year. Many Thai people probably didn't feel like celebrating Loy Krathong because of the death of King Bhumibol.

I think a ban on those styrofoam krathongs is a good idea. If it is only such a small part, then immediately completely ban that styrofoam, better for the environment, especially since a large part in .oa Pattaya is simply pushed directly into the open sea and then does not decay
    🙁
