Most of the surveillance cameras along the escape route taken by the suspect from the Erawan shrine were not functioning. According to National Police Chief Somyot Poompunmuang, 15 of the 20 cameras at the Ratchaprasong intersection were out of action.

The culprit would be the city of Bangkok, which owns and maintains the cameras. The municipality has 57.000 cameras in the city, 10.000 of which are new high-resolution cameras. According to Somyot, the images from the five working cameras do not give the police a complete picture of the incident.

Bangkok police do not know if the suspects are still in the country. He may have changed into Chulalongkorn hospital and then fled to Malaysia.

An analysis of the bomb debris found has shown that both C4 and TNT may have been used. The bullets that were in the pipe bomb could have been bought at any hardware store. The bombs used on Erawan and Sathorn match. It is a type of bomb that has not been used in Thailand before. The bomb maker may have received training abroad.

An MK2 grenade was also found yesterday in a home in Sukhumvit Soi 81. According to the police, there is no connection with the deadly bomb attack.

The police are investigating whether the group that hacked those websites in Lamphun may have had something to do with the attack. It would be a group of Muslims from Tunisia.

Broken cameras is one thing. Another thing is not applying a very basic maintenance.
The recorded images would be a lot clearer if the camera lenses were cleaned once in a while.
But of course not one Thai thinks about that.
“Maintenance” is a totally unknown concept in Thailand anyway.
That they finally break down… well what did you think…..
And that's where they are now. Don't surprise me.
