Several parts of Thailand are still experiencing flooding. But it is difficult to get an overall picture based on the reporting. Today the newspaper reports flooding from Lampang, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chachoengsao and Chon Buri.

Point by point the reported incidents:

  • Twenty villages in the northern province of Lampang have been flooded as a result run off of several mountains in Jason National Park. More than a hundred households and 1.000 rai of farmland were affected and some roads became impassable. Police and soldiers have been sent to the area to provide assistance.
  • In Chachoengsao province, a huge body of water flowed from the Seeyad reservoir to tambon Koh Khanoon in Phanom Sarakham district. Six miles of highway 3245 was flooded; it reached a height of 60 cm. Yesterday, the water was expected to reach Ratchasan and Bang Khla districts. Both districts are already under water.
  • Eighty factories in the Amata Nakhon industrial estate in Chon Buri have been flooded, but they are still in operation despite the water. Fifty pumps have been installed to pump out the water. The flooding is expected to end within a few days.
  • Good news from Nakhon Ratchasima. Most of the water on Mittraphap Highway in Sung Noen district has receded and the road is passable again. Since Sunday, the water has dropped from 60 to 70 cm to 15 cm.
  • The Phimai National Museum and the park (photo home page) are struggling with water from the Moon River. Thousands of years old artifacts are kept in the museum. Museum staff wrapped them in plastic to protect against the water that reached a height of 40 cm.
  •  Despite efforts to combat the flooding in the province, the reservoirs continue to fill up. Authorities fear more flooding.
