News from Thailand – January 23, 2015

The Nation opens with the message that today is 'Judgment Day' for Yingluck Shinawatra. This Friday, the 220 NLA members (a kind of temporary people's parliament) will vote on her impeachment (with retroactive effect). Because the military is strongly represented in the NLA, there is little chance that this vote will turn out in its favour. When the impeachment is a fact, she will be politically banned for 5 years. This also applies to the former Speakers of the House of Representatives and the Senate who are in the same boat: http://goo.gl/Pu9iQt
