Yesterday it finally happened. After 18 long years, Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt was allowed to keep the scale up and with that the 15th national championship of the club from South Rotterdam was a fact. Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team achieved 82 points this season; only three times Feyenoord became champion with more points.
This afternoon the ceremony on the Coolsingel will be broadcast live on TV and more than 100.000 frenzied fans will cheer on the team.
Your editor is a Feyenoord supporter and was of course in Rotterdam yesterday with many comrades. Unfortunately not in De Kuip but in a cozy Rotterdam pub, see some atmospheric images here: www.rotterdamopzondag.nl
It was a fantastic and historic day that we have been looking forward to for a long time.
Congratulations to all fellow Feyenoord supporters in Thailand!

And now I miss Rotterdam
I also watched the game with tears in my eyes.
As a loyal Feyenoord supporter, Rotterdam is very far away if you live in Udon.
But that doesn't make the emotions any less.
Watching the ceremony later with my 12 year old daughter.
She also gets a Feyenoord heart, something that unfortunately never worked out with my wife.
She just doesn't like football.
There are already 140.000 supporters on the Coolsingel! No club in the Netherlands has so many supporters.
In the past, giving them bread and games was a way to influence the people and make them happy. Apparently not much has changed over the years, but I continue to be amazed by this kind of joy and euphoria. I would really like to see this emotion on things that matter and are really important. Humanity and its strange twists.
Sons just enjoy yourself and don't want to analyze everything, sometimes it really makes life more fun …….
Well, you could also say: give them sun and women and they will leave for Thailand 😉
Surely those 140.000 supporters will be able to clamp down on those 500 ringleaders and mess kickers
to take?!
