Hans Vermeulen (Sandy Coast) passed away on Koh Samui
The well-known Dutch singer and composer Hans Vermeulen has passed away on Koh Samui at the age of 70. He was the leader of the band Sandy Coast and later of Rainbow Train.
Vermeulen had a number of hits with the pop group Sandy Coast, including I see your face again, True love that's a wonder, Capital punishment and Summertrain. In the 70s the band split up and Vermeulen started the group Rainbow Train, in which he sang with his then wife Dianne Marchal.
As a producer, Vermeulen also worked for artists such as Margriet Eshuijs and Anita Meyer. For Anita Meyer he wrote the hit The alternative way in 1976, on which he also sang along.
In the early 80s, Sandy Coast made a comeback, with The Eyes of Jenny scoring another hit for the first time in eight years.
In the 90s, Vermeulen moved to Koh Samui Thailand, where he remarried Thai singer Jariya Chatsuwan. He regularly performed in the Netherlands. It is unknown what caused Hans's death.

Way too early, Hans was not only a good musician, but also a very good person, many people will miss him.
RIP
Rest in peace Hans. Enjoyed your music and great meeting you on Samui in 2001.
I have a very early memory of the Sandy Coast. As a sixteen year old, I signed the band in 1964 (?) for a school party in the canteen of St. Janscollege in The Hague, an exclusive boys' school. Afterwards, the organizers took the girls home on the Puch. Then the canteen had to be cleaned up. That makes you thirsty. As a former altar boy, I managed to find the key to the (mass) wine cellar. That was the first alcohol of the evening and due to the lack of female beauty, some boys wandered through the canteen. The next day I was summoned by Principal Verberne for 'homosexual' activities. My mother rode her bike to school and kicked the man's coat and, allegedly, punched him in the ears. After that it was wiser to look for another school...
The AC?
The newspaper stated that Hans Vermeulen had died of a cardiac arrest.
Condolences to family and friends for this loss.
Never heard of this man, but I just listened to his music and I definitely know it:
For example, True love that's a wonder and The alternative way are not minor hits but almost classics.
Deepest sympathy to the family and friends!
RIP Hans
Heaven has gained another good musician…

Next February 2018 again on your beloved beach Meanan Beach I will think of you and certainly your music.
