In Chiang Mai, free face masks are being handed out to residents because of the persistent smog with toxic air. Chiang Mai is one of nine northern provinces where the concentration of PM 2,5 particulate matter far exceeds the safety limit.

The governor of the province wants officials to inform the population about the situation. Families with lung diseases are visited at home and they receive free face masks with instructions on how to use them.

The governor has also asked residents to water their plants more often and to pour water on the sidewalk in front of their house (editor: yes, that will certainly help!?!).

The highest concentration of PM 2,5 was measured yesterday in tambon Jong Kham in Mae Hong Son and amounted to 233 mcg. According to the WHO, the safety limit for humans and animals is 25 mcg.

Always taught to tackle something at the source???

How can you come up with face masks for lung disease patients and also treat them with home visits to teach them how to use the face mask?
A deep bow with a respectful Wai to thank this very government, which for years has failed to take real measures against this pollution.
If things continue like this, a tourist should put on his diving equipment immediately after landing at Suvarnabhumi.
Would like to see the surprised faces at Immigration at the airport in Bangkok if a few tourists showed up with snorkels in their mouths and oxygen bottles already on their backs.555
Would at least give a nice message in the Bangkok post.

Hospitals are getting ready to receive patients with respiratory problems. Face masks are distributed free of charge.

Only: the cause of the air pollution (burning down agricultural land and adjacent areas) is still not being done about it.

This is called “symptom management”. We talk about Thailand 2.0 (HSL, computers, submarines, etc.), but meanwhile continue to burn down agricultural lands in a medieval way.

Take the source with a firm hand, it seems to me.

… just keep smiling behind the mask 🙂

This has been the case for years, the government really needs to make some calculations here, especially for children and the elderly, it is certainly not getting any better, the problem is only getting worse. Perhaps something for the new King to take measures for his people.
