The cabinet approved the public transport card with the name Mangmoom (Spin) on Tuesday. This card for public transport in and around Bangkok will come into use on October 1.

The universal public transport card can soon be used on the BTS Skytrain, MRT Blue Line, Purple Line, Airport Rail Link and city buses of the public transport company of Bangkok.

From October 1, the Mangmoom card can be suitable for 800 city buses and for 2.600 buses early next year. From July 2018, the card also works on three metro lines and the Airport Rail Link.

The bus conductor will disappear by inserting the card. The current 2.000 bus conductors will probably be offered early retirement.

  1. Scared tom says up

Thought retirement wasn't much, or is that enough for conductors to live on.

  2. support says up

I would wait a while with the retirement (??) of conductors. These types of systems usually don't work from day 1.
