Elections on March 24 (Thiti Sukapan / Shutterstock.com)

A poll by Nida (National Institute of Development Administration) shows that a majority in Thailand are satisfied with both the outcome and the course of the elections on March 24.

When asked how satisfied they were with the election results, based on their votes for their chosen candidate, a majority said they were satisfied (25,72% of them were very satisfied and 43,15% quite satisfied). Only 20,47% said they were somewhat dissatisfied and 10,07% were not at all satisfied, while 0,59% didn't know or had no opinion.

When asked if they thought the elections were fair and correct, 7,02% said yes, absolutely. More than 18,95% said yes, to a high degree and 38,16% said yes, to a moderate degree. About 14,81% thought the election was not entirely fair and 18,44% said the election was not fair at all.

Suan Dusit Poll says something completely different

This poll is in stark contrast to a Susan Dusit Poll the results of which were announced today showed that a majority of people were concerned about the way the elections were conducted. When asked by the Suan Dusit Poll whether they were happy or disappointed with the election, nearly half of respondents (48,74%) said they were disappointed with the election commission for its lack of transparency. There are serious question marks about whether the counting of votes has been fair. The delay in the announcements of the election results reinforces that feeling.

The Nida poll was conducted on March 25-26 among 1.182 people from across the country of various levels of education and professions, who they will vote in the March 24 elections.

A majority, 91,96% of respondents, said they voted on March 24, while the rest, 8,04%, had already voted in the March 17 primaries.

Apparently, the voters were not so pleased after all, because the protesters have already taken to the streets again. This is a week after the election. Now it is waiting for the inevitable coup. Oh yes, TIT or Asia.
