Every day, an average of two to three children drown in Thailand, according to figures from the Ministry of Health. It is the number one cause of death for children under the age of 1.

Every year 3.600 people drown, most of whom are children. This time is especially dangerous for children, because 32,7% of drownings occur during the summer holidays. Parents are asked not to let their children swim unsupervised. Many children go swimming during the school holidays and the rainy season, which is why most accidents occur.

A spokesperson for the ministry advises placing warning signs and obstacles. He emphasizes that children should only go swimming under supervision.

We have taken the grandchildren to the local swimming pool several times.
They indeed could not swim, but they learned by doing and with guidance.
    They loved it.
They were strange that there were no fish in the pool.

When do people get swimming lessons? Nobody can swim in Thailand

      Another claim that is incorrect.

My nephew did take swimming lessons and I have seen him several times. There were quite a few students present in his group (I estimate about 8). After about 10 lessons everyone could already swim quite well.

So to just say that no one can swim there you are completely wrong.
