A homeless man was most likely electrocuted after touching a security camera pole on Bangkok's Phahon Yothin Road. His body was found on Saturday morning by a man who says he too received a shock when he touched the pole.

A driver of a motorcycle taxi says that he and residents have known for more than a year that the pole in question is under power. They alerted the district office at the time. He claimed after an inspection that nothing was wrong. The municipality, owner of the cameras and the electricity company (MEA) will now conduct an in-depth investigation. However, they are awaiting the results of the official autopsy first.

The preliminary autopsy showed that the estimated 40-year-old man died of cardiac arrest due to electrocution. His hands were covered in burns.

Director Taweesak of the municipal Traffic and Transport Department stated after the incident that his department checked the pole and there was no voltage on the pole at the time.
