If you think that vegetables grown on hydroponics (without soil) contain fewer pesticides that are harmful to humans and animals, then you are wrong. Nearly two-thirds of such vegetables from modern agriculture contain too much poison, the Thailand Pesticide Alert Network (Thai-PAN) has found.

The organization tested 30 samples of vegetables sold at fresh markets and supermarkets in Bangkok. Only eight samples were safe.

Thai-PAN wants to use the results to point out to farmers that they should use less pesticides.

  1. TH.NL says up

This has been said for years, but apparently nothing is happening. Merely telling the farmers not to do this does not help. In Europe, such unsafe food would be immediately removed from the shelves.

  2. raw says up

There are two types (hydrocultures) one in which you as a farmer have to add the chemo yourself and the other is called aquaponics, which is safe because the water is used from fish cultures, without chemo.
    This difference is not mentioned.
