In Bangkok, a 30-year-old New Zealand tourist died yesterday after falling from the fourth floor of his hotel near Khao San Road. The drunk man tried to climb from his balcony to the adjacent balcony and that went wrong.

When the emergency services arrived, the man was lying in a pool of blood in the courtyard of the hotel. Eyewitnesses told police that the Kiwi had been drinking heavily and wanted to visit his friends in the adjoining room. For reasons unknown, he tried to go through the balcony instead of the front door, but slipped and fell to his death.

The New Zealand Embassy has been informed of the man's death.

He hasn't learned anything because he can't do it again. Hopefully the madmen who also perform such tricks or get into their heads will learn something from it. For those who always find foreign fatalities from balconies 'suspicious', it's not always 'the Thai' fault.
