The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), which is responsible for public bus transport in Bangkok, wants to replace the outdated diesel buses by leasing and buying new environmentally friendly buses.

700 buses must then be rented: 400 hybrid vehicles for the price of 3,2 billion baht and 300 natural gas (NGV) buses for 1,7 billion baht. In addition, the BMTA plans to purchase 35 electric buses and create charging points in the coming year. That costs 571 million baht.

At a later date, they want to buy 1.453 hybrid buses for 11,6 billion baht. Because this will take some time, the BMTA is investing 161 million baht in the renovation of 323 buses.

It's high time to ban those horrible smelly diesels. In Pattaya, too, they are intoxicating the entire city, mainly to transport Chinese people from here to there.

Not a single vehicle in Thailand is environmentally friendly because the government refuses to make the catalytic converter mandatory
