Two days after a train derailed in Long (Phrae), a train derailed again, this time yesterday morning at Talat Phlu station in Thon Buri (Bangkok).

As the train, bound for Samut Sakhon, approached a railroad crossing, the ground collapsed beneath the rails. The third carriage bounced as a result and hit the roof of the station. Debris from the roof injured two women who were waiting. They have been taken to hospital.

Prapat Chongsanguan, governor of the State Railway of Thailand, who surveyed the devastation, determined that the track had not been properly maintained on site. He said the incident again underlined the need for rail track improvement and the replacement of sleepers.

The thirteenth accident took place on Thursday evening. The last carriage of the train to Chiang Mai then jumped off the rails. As a result, the SRT decided to take care of the route between Sila-art station (Uttaradit) and Chiang Mai. From September 16 to October 31, train traffic is blocked and buses are used.

At my water I feel that all these accidents are no longer a coincidence. I don't know what exactly is wrong but it is wrong. Until now I sometimes traveled pertrien, but I have become a bit more careful now. Not that it is much safer on the road (by car, bus or bicycle)…

I can still remember a bit of Khun Peter recently with a small group of thai blog followers so-called train romantics, who liked to spend hours on the train and then arrive broken. You have to be fairly irrational and tired of life to choose the train over Airasia, for example.

Now let me enjoy being in a train between Thai. I do not arrive broken, because I sleep wonderfully on the night train. Find it more tiring to be herded into a plane like cattle. Waiting for check-in, waiting at passport control, waiting for security check, waiting for boarding and then the same thing in reverse upon arrival. Also waiting for your luggage. Please give me the train.

Here's another one who likes to travel by train.

Indeed, flying is faster, but I am retired, haste is far from me.

        And the bus?
        Well no, thank you terribly.

It does not alter the fact that the number of derailments is somewhat large.
But, despite that, I prefer to be in a train than in a bus.

My long career at NS has given me a reasonable knowledge of the sport.
And I am amazed every time that the railway hares, i.e. the staff, do a very good job despite all the problems.

Perhaps they are sometimes not really very friendly, but do not forget that the military hassle was only abolished at NS in the 70s, while SRT is not that far yet.

        Nice with the train…….
