Four Dutch people injured in attack in Thailand
As far as is now known to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 4 Dutch people were injured yesterday in the bomb explosion in Hua Hin in Thailand. It concerns three women, aged 49, 23 and 18. They are still in the hospital. The first two are seriously injured, the 18-year-old is slightly injured.
One Dutch man (72) was treated in hospital and was able to leave the hospital afterwards.
Our condolences go out to the victims and their loved ones. 'The Dutch embassy is doing everything it can to help and support the Dutch people involved.' Koenders strongly condemns the bomb attacks in Thailand.
The Dutch ambassador to Thailand, Karel Hartogh, traveled with a consular officer from Bangkok to Hua Hin to visit the Dutch wounded and to provide consular assistance.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any reports of Dutch victims from the other Thai places where attacks took place. On the 24/7 BZ Contact Center (+31247247247), the ministry receives virtually no calls from concerned family members and friends.

Condolences to the families of the victims and hope all is well again soon.
Also a lot of strength to the victims themselves.
The recently appointed ambassador Mr. Karel Hartogh in Bangkok is in any case an excellent ambassador who takes initiatives when necessary. He immediately visited the wounded in HUAHIN, which is very pleasant and reassuring for us Dutch people.
It shows the ignorance of the Dutch media that the NOS Journaal on the sickbed of the affected Dutch does mention the Thai Minister of Tourism, but does not even mention Karel Hartogh. Other media are also contributing. Hua Hin is suddenly 100 km south of Bangkok, or it is less than a two-hour drive. Broadcasters try to call you at a time that suits them, but we have been sleeping for hours. Every country gets the media it deserves. The media are also more interested in the emotions of (distant) eyewitnesses than in background information. You see the most trivial stories passing by.
