Thai ladies are inventive

You can have a lot of admiration for the inventiveness of many Thai women who always manage to earn money. A tiny 'restaurant' consisting of a few stools, rickety tables and a few simmering pans on the fire.

The market is also such a hot item where homemade gadgets are sold. The Sunday market – not the daily night bazar – in Chiangmai is an excellent example of this. You are truly amazed by the inventiveness and creativity of many people who are able to boost the household budget somewhat.

Meats

Recently I ended up in Korat at a large Chinese shop dealing in packaged meats. It was very busy with mainly women doing their shopping. The ladies receive a discount of about 25 percent on the pre-priced items. The smart ones among them had already completed the order lists at home and already calculated how much had to be paid. It's starting to look like the ภาษาไทย from the countryside to a trading people begins to develop. Certain products, such as these meat products, are an exclusive in the small villages where the number of shops is small.

Pratunam

The Pratunam Market in Bangkok is also such a shopping mecca for many trading ladies, especially during the weekend. Pratunam is easy to find and near the Amari Watergate Hotel located The addition Watergate is the English translation of Pratu Nam. The most famous landmark that can be seen from far and wide is the Baiyoke Tower of the hotel of the same name.

Pratunam Market is a lively market where you have the impression that the word closing time does not exist here. Especially in the field of textiles, there is a lot for sale here in the cheaper genre at rock bottom prices. The purchasing ladies drag bags full of the stuff from here to be able to sell it in their own village, of course, at a profit.

Of course there are also Thai men who are not too bad to earn a few bucks on the side, but the ladies are in the majority and that can be said.

Pratunam is largely visited by the India people.
There are also many shipping offices.
Bobae is better known among Thai saleswomen.
That the Thai ladies are inventive?
They don't see the trade until someone has started. If they see the customers coming, they try to do the same in the vicinity.
As a result, you will see that after a while there are several shops with the same goods.
Opening a restaurant is not a problem. Few costs and the prices are low.
Average rent for a spot is 4000 baht.
Gas cylinders are necessary for preparing the food.
Procurement of the supplies must also be done.
Prices range from 35 baht to 100 baht for a meal.
At the end of the day, everything that comes in is profit… This is the beginning of the end
    Coffee shop ditto.
    Neatly furnished.
    Cappuccino costs 30 baht.
2 months later.. Well few customers, air conditioning on all day.
    End of story.

I will soon write an item about how the shops and trade have fared for many on the market in the government complex.

Been coming to pratunam for years 2/year and still see many Thai men and women making large purchases of clothing there, so not only Indian people.

Yes, we westerners can do that much better, can't we?

Find your opinion rather short sighted. Thais can certainly set up profitable businesses or businesses.
In much more difficult circumstances than we could ever accept.

    Experienced true story up close.
Knowledge sells 20 liter bottles of water for 10 bath.
My question what does it cost now do you know that and do you keep track of it?

    yes cost is 6 bath.
    My question based on what.

Eh electricity for pumps and the aircon filters etc.

She employs a helper (niece as usual) for 400 baht a day. a 2 days a week to clean and fill the bottles. Because if you have a business, you have employees.

How many bottles do you sell per week. Answer 150 or 200 approximately.
So you have lost 800 baht in salary, so per bottle is already about 4 to 5 baht per bottle?

No, because my help is paid by my brother and otherwise she has no money. My brother help her.

Oh and if something breaks who pays? -> My brother??

Apparently she has a toko owner who buys from her. Comes to get 75 bottles in I see he pays 450 bath. So is 6 bath per bottle.
Ask how is that possible and why only 6 bath?

Oh he comes from far and has to drive for it too? How far is how far? So 4 km.
What does he charge for it in his shop? Answer 15 bath.

My question is, why isn't that possible? If something is broken or the installation needs to be replaced. How do you pay then? Oh that pays my brother????

Well, that's how I can become rich, right? Or not.

    So my question e

Indeed, many shps disappear quickly. Last year we found a restaurant in changmai where you could eat delicious food. This year we went there again. The same with the coffee shops. Every year a different owner who tries again.

Poverty makes resourceful. So were our ancestors.

With few resources, some ingenuity, some copying, they start a business. Often little thought, but a busy place makes up for a lot. The lack of social security also makes resourceful.

In our highly regulated West you can rarely start something on the street. With us, people who enjoy social security are not allowed to do anything with their ingenuity. I do understand the rationale, but that means that some groups of people are not allowed to do anything … and become numb.

Yes, that inventive, there are sometimes not many other possibilities, due to a lack of money of course.

What strikes me is that they start something and after a few weeks they realize that it is not feasible, so
    Then they start another activity.

That is now characteristic of Thailand, here one can do what he wants.

One can practice all professions here, without any knowledge of the subject.

They come from the rice fields, yes we are going to try construction, or go to a hairdresser's shop
    open etc……….

Once knew a girl who also ran a "roadside restaurant" in her village. Small can of beer when buy 24 Baht, sell 27 Baht. Very inventive.
The Pratunam Market is not Valhalla, but Hell on Earth. Never seen so much endless laziness together.

Inventive, yes, the first to come up.

My wife also likes to cook and made sandwiches for example, which she sold through a shop in the village.
After the 2nd time, the owner said it was no longer possible because his niece had seen it and wanted to do it now.

The neighbor will also try to sell snacks and drinks along the road. Just like 10 others in the village. And there are only 10 streets!
