Since many untruths have been written in comments now, but once the real story about EuroTV and IPTV

In 2014 NL-TV introduced Dutch TV in Thailand with a price of 900 THB per month, which no one complained about at the time. Later a conflict arose within the company, which led to it being split into EuroTV and NL-TV. EuroTV lowered the price to 600 THB to compete with NL-TV. This price reduction, together with the fact that the technicians from NL-TV to EuroTV switched, meant the end for NL-TV. As revenge NL-TV offered free services for months, but the technical problems piled up, ultimately leading people to choose to pay for a hassle-free viewing experience. EuroTV became the only provider of Dutch TV within a few months, but never brought the price back to 900 THB and kept stuck at 600 THB for years.

The impact of the Ukraine war

The war in Ukraine has led to huge increases in energy prices. As a result of these, EuroTV's server costs have increased significantly, leaving EuroTV with no choice but to follow almost 8 annual price increase. The price rose to 800 THB.

Allegations of pickpocketing

Accusations have also often been made that EuroTV are pickpockets. However, EuroTV is a transparent organization with a physical address and a shop. they pay rent, have employees and pay taxes. The fact that EuroTV is not experiencing any problems is probably due to a tolerance policy, because, contrary to what is often claimed, there is no LEGAL possibility to watch Dutch live TV in Thailand.

Eurotv.asia vs eurotvthailand.com

Both websites offer EuroTV, there is a small difference. If you are at eurotvthailand.com ordered you will receive fast Dutch support and communication.

At eurotv.asia, communication is in German or English and e-mails are in Dutch are written, are forwarded to a Dutch reseller and then you come out again at eurotvthailand.com. Which just slowed down.

Euro TV offer

EuroTV offers Dutch, German, French and English packages.

IPTV

Many people opt for it in Thailand IPTV, simply because with EuroTV this is the only one  possibility to watch Dutch TV. However, the functioning of EuroTV differs of traditional IPTV

Here are the pros and cons of EuroTV

BENEFITS

  • It is much less susceptible to interference
  • Very easy operation
  • Looking back 2 weeks
  • Extensive TV guide
  • Official company with physical store
  • Works on Android, Windows, Mac, Smartphones
  • You can watch on various devices with 1 subscription, however, not at the same time

CONS

  • Image quality not as high as IPTV
  • Channel offer minimal
  • Slightly more expensive than IPTV on an annual basis

Here are the pros and cons of IPTV

BENEFITS

  • Thousands of channels worldwide
  • Video library with hundreds of new films and series
  • Very high quality up to 8K
  • All sports events are broadcast
  • Easy operation
  • All regional Dutch channels also available

CONS

  • Sensitive to disturbances, buffering can occur with poor internet. Although that doesn't happen often with the provider I have
  • Illegal, the IPTV providers are anonymous. If they are rolled up, you will lose your subscription fee, as is the case now.
  • Very short look back time and less user-friendly than with EuroTV
  • Fast internet connection required and connection via cable with router. WiFi is possible, but many routers often stutter.
  • Sometimes an internet connection that is fast in itself and otherwise good  functions have problems with IPTV. Sometimes it helps to turn off the modem te for a long time and you get a different IP number.

Dutch people often come to me asking if I can help them watch from Dutch TV. My help consists of advising and providing technical support. After trying different IPTV providers, I can conclude that 95% of them are of poor quality and only cause problems. My involvement started with helping acquaintances, but more and more people came to me through the grapevine. Although I take a risk with this, I don't make huge amounts of money with it. However, there is a possibility that the judiciary will interfere and knock on my door. Yet I assume that they mainly focus on people who have millions to earn.

Cause

The only reason for these illegal practices is the lack of a legal alternative. The The TV industry should understand that the Dutch like to go abroad Watch Dutch TV and have to offer a legal option for this. I believe most people prefer to watch in a legal and reliable way.

VPN

There are several posts that you're using VPN can just watch. Although that is partly true, many IP addresses are known to various TV providers and become blocked, so you still can't access it. A possible solution would be to set up your own VPN server and have it run by an acquaintance in the Netherlands. VPN use is not illegal, but it goes against the terms of use of the TV services.

I don't understand the fuss about 800 thb.
We Dutch Belgians like to watch TV, and a nice connection to your own country if you are far away for a long time.
We are LUCKY that we have that option, and it now costs 72 euro cents per day. Nowhere else in NL or BE can you get such an offer with a 10-day look back option for this price. I see many foreigners drinking a beer here every day for 2 euros/glass, half an hour.
    72 cents 24 hours….
I have been a subscriber for 10 years and am very happy with it. Thank you for this offer!

    • Louvada says up

Correctly described, I too have been a subscriber for about 10 years and am very satisfied. Of course you have to have a good internet, but that's about everything.

  2. Maarten says up

It is easy to LEGALLY watch NL TV including Sport.
I use the Canal Digital App for 15 euros per month in combination with a VPN.
High quality and no mafia practices.

What surprises me is that many readers on Thailand blog are fiercely against drugs, but do subscribe to some illegal streaming service where, among other things, drug money is laundered.

      • Alan says up

This is a very strange reaction. Why would all IPTV providers be in drugs?

It seems you don't know how money laundering works.

You can only launder money by increasing turnover in a legal company.
Criminals then use the black money for that extra turnover.

So how the hell can you launder drug money with an illegal steaming service that also only has criminal income?

        • Peter (editor) says up

It does not say anywhere in my response that all IPTV providers are on drugs, those are your words. If you read the articles about the rolled-up IPTV provider, there was money laundering of criminal money. Or would the judiciary lie about that?

          • Alan says up

I can tell you that news items today should be taken with a grain of salt: https://torrentfreak.com/iptv-providers-reject-claims-of-links-to-drugs-weapons-people-trafficking-190825/

You literally write: “subscribe to some illegal streaming service where, among other things, drug money is laundered.”

That is not possible as I stated.

    • Frank says up

Sport? Canal digital does not even broadcast Eurosport, and constantly changing system astra 1 analog, digital, astra 3, plug-in card stopped etc etc

    • Alan says up

Many expats are elderly and it quickly becomes too technical.

It is also not the case that all VPNs work, some are blocked.

In addition, if people live in Thailand, they do not have the option to take out a subscription with Canal Digital, for this you need a Dutch address.

Another problem is that you cannot download the app here, if you use the app then you have downloaded it in the Netherlands and the VPN will not help you with this. Many expats live here and no longer go to the Netherlands.

In short, your story is beautiful, but not feasible for everyone.

    • Henk says up

I have an internet TV etc. connection of 3BB. In addition to a router, a TV android box is included. In response to the article as quoted by Peter editors, I took out a subscription to Canaaldigitaal from Thailand. I installed this as an app via Google Play from the android box. Log in and it works like a charm. No VPN needed. Compared to Eurotv.asia: no German channels.

      • Alan says up

Great Henk that you managed to do that.
But can you explain how you did that?

When I look here: https://www.canaldigitaal.nl/pakketten/tv-app/registratie/ then a Dutch address is requested. Many expats no longer have a Dutch address.

It is also not possible to download the Android app in Thailand and the Canal Digital TV app is also not available on Smart TVs purchased in Thailand.

      • Henk says up

I'm not Henk from 08:51u. Other Hank. Addition: I forgot to mention that you can contact Canaaldigitaal via their website. Facebook or Chat. You must have a Dutch bank account to be able to collect the monthly subscription fee. As mentioned, I downloaded the app via the pre-installed Google Play on the 3BB android TV box, just here in Thailand. 3BB will bring and set everything up and connect it with the right cables and plugs. So you don't have to be technical yourself. The remote control is intuitive and self-explanatory. True and Dtac have the same capabilities. Visit your provider for more information. Canal Digital does have ESPN, no Eurosport and of course no Ziggosport. BBCFirst, but again no Arte. No German-language channels. Eurotv.asia has all those mentioned channels, except BBCFirst, and a lot of movie channels.

Sorry, but I read from the entire piece that this was written by someone from Euro-tv. The response was also posted again by probably an employee of Euro-tv.... What is written at the beginning is that no one complained about the initial phase of 900 Thb. That is simply made up. What is 100% true is that there is simply NO better option than subscribing to Euro-TV. There is no better or cheaper option for that... All that fiddling with IPTV etc. is only for people who are well aware of such antics and have heavenly patience when watching TV... The price makes up for it. Everyone can decide for themselves whether they find it acceptable, yes or no. Also in the Netherlands you have a Ziggo subscription for around 300 euros per year, so comparable to Euro TV. And I don't understand what drinking a beer has to do with TV. very well ..

    • Alan says up

This piece was not posted by a EuroTV employee. I informed the poster with this information and thought it was worth sharing.

It is true that there have always been people who thought it was “expensive”. But the Dutch are known for that all over the world. However, that was sporadic, with the price increase to 800THB, which had a good argument against it, many more people were pissed off.

I agree that everyone has to decide for themselves what is acceptable in terms of price. But to judge whether a price is reasonable, you need to know what the costs and risks are.

I do understand the comparison with that beer. By this, the poster meant that many people throw money in the pub but complain about a few hundred baht a month.

A friend of mine always says: "Better expensive than not for sale".
By the way, I am not saying that I personally think EuroTV is too expensive.

Is channel digital not an option in Thailand?

    • Peter (editor) says up

      Of course: https://www.thailandblog.nl/leven-thailand/nl-tv-in-thailand-canal-digitaal-is-een-prima-alternatief-voor-nlziet/

  5. sonnie says up

Why not just see that it always works, looking back over 2 years. And it only costs 9 euros per month. And there are also many IPTV providers for 45 euros per year that work well. To see it you will need an IP changer. But hey, they can be found for free

    • Pim says up

You're right, of course, because NLZiet works (I use it too) very well, but then you don't have Viaplay with those horrible car races and no espn for football and all that sports mess that I never watch myself.
It is useful to look back and especially if the advertising has been removed.

  6. Pim says up

A while ago I wrote in a comment that I was thinking about buying a few packages myself and offering them to people who don't like IPTV and the technology that comes with it.
I've tested many boxes and IPTV providers in the past 2 weeks and I've figured it out.
I found a box that works excellently and an IPTV provider that works very stable (and that was not easy).
The lookback time is 2 days and is quite stable.
Furthermore, all the rambam of channels and series and films are on and on.
Works fine as long as you (as described above) cannot connect the box to WiFi, but preferably simply with an internet cable.
You can always email for advice [email protected]

  7. Hendrik says up

Stopped eurotv.asia 3 months ago, not because it's bad but I was visiting someone with IPTV in Jomtien and that was a lot more interesting for only 75 euros a year. Excellent connection and no box needed. I often visit people who watch TV via the internet and they often have a bad cable or no strong WiFi.
Buy a good cable and you have lost your interference.

  8. Johan says up

It never ceases to amaze me that everyone who has IPTV and EuroTV in their home makes such fuss about the criminal offence. facts that these streaming services commit, but it is worth taking this risk for most, euro TV please. an answer please?
You are responsible for your members, to inform them about your service record, but porn is prohibited by law in Thailand, and you sell this product to your members unsolicited, right?

    • Bart2 says up

Do you really think that Euro TV will respond to the blog here? Talk about naivety.

And if porn is banned in Thailand, they'd better shut down the entire internet instead of criticizing Euro TV for it.

The streaming services offered by Euro TV may be illegal, but then you have to look beyond the end of your nose. How many illegal activities do not take place in this beautiful country? Just think of all the counterfeit goods, illegal software that can be bought on every corner of the street … and we can go on and on. All this is turned a blind eye, just like Euro TV.

Maybe we should leave each other alone. Pointing the finger all the time isn't good for anything.

      • Johan says up

Naivety is that you buy something that you have not chosen, if I want to watch channels abroad, why are these channels supplied unsolicited?
You cannot explain this to me, but Eurotv can, so I am not concerned with pointing fingers, but with a clear answer from those responsible for this, they can compile palettes with various channels, or will it be too difficult?

        • Pim says up

I think you are not fully informed.
With IPTV you can choose what you want.
If you order an IPTV package from me, you can choose which channels you do and do not want, for example, if you only want Belgian and Dutch channels from the entire list, and no "nature" channels or films, you can.
This is not possible with legal providers such as NLZiet, where you get the whole package whether you want it or not.
There is more to be said about this, but that goes too far.

        • Willy says up

Anyone who thinks that EuroTV will answer you here on this blog is indeed naive.

And are you really complaining here that they offer channels that you didn't ask for? No one forces you to do business with them anyway. I actually don't understand your problem.

    • Alan says up

EuroTV does not offer porn channels. It is true that porn is sometimes broadcast on the movie channels.

You cannot compare EuroTV with the IPTV providers. EuroTV is a transparent company, with permits, a store, staff and pays taxes properly.

As I wrote earlier in another posting, I think EuroTV is tolerated. It is important that EurTV does not violate the interests of Thai companies such as True. That's why you wouldn't see English football on EuroTV because that's in the True package.

EuroTV is there simply because there are no easy ways for expats to watch Dutch TV here. I do not see EuroTV harming other interests, after all, what they broadcast is not legally available here. This is completely different from IPTV.

    • Andre says up

      Dear Johan,

Here you go very short through the bend.

Thailand is at the top of the world when it comes to fraud, corruption and illegal activities. From high up in the government to the man in the street, rules and laws are taken for granted. And you come here complaining that EuroTV is illegal and that the users make a fuss about it. Do you really think you will change that?

      • Chris de Boer says up

    • Robert_Rayong says up

Coming here to play the moral knight about criminal offenses is highly exaggerated. Should all EuroTV customers now feel guilty?

Far worse crimes are committed in Thailand than "illegally" watching a paid streaming service. And porn, no, I haven't seen them yet.

I look at Ziggo via my subscription
    on ZiggoGo all NL channels
    incl. sports and ESPN.

Personally, I think Eurotv.asia is more than sufficient for me, but it is to the credit of the editors of Thailandblog that they point out alternatives, such as recently with Canaaldigitaal. Now I see an advertisement from Belgium VPN on the left, intended for the Flemish viewer. https://belgiumvpn.be/ Fine. However? Something for everyone.

  11. Eddy says up

800 baht per month is too expensive for me. I also find fiber optic internet such as 3BB too expensive.
I therefore have unlimited internet via a SIM card for less than 1.600 baht per year.

For my entertainment I have the following things.

NPO for the public channels. Free.
A matchbox box as a vpn server [with fast Wireguard] is with family in NL. Free.
For football I use Ziggo from family. Free.
I watch summaries of English and European football via Youtube on TrueVision and Ziggo. Free.

However, live broadcasts of Formula 1, the English Premier League or Bundesliga go through Viaplay.
I use it occasionally, because 15 euros per month is too expensive. Movies and series from Viaplay is crap.
For popular movies/series I take HBO Go. Only costs 3 euros per month.

  12. Alan says up

When I read all the responses, I conclude that Canal Digital is an option for watching TV in Thailand.

However, what I miss is the important information that this is only possible for people who still have an address and bank account available in the Netherlands. If you don't have this, you might ask family or friends. If all this is not possible, EuroTV is a good solution.
