Zoysia lawn is ruined in rainy season by worm excrement

Dear readers,

I have a beautiful garden with a Zoysia lawn of about 800 m2. All beautiful, but now in the rainy season it is infested with worm excrement. I don't mean those small worms, but worms about 40 cm long and almost 1 cm thick. The droppings are about 5 cm wide and 10 cm. high.

All well and good but it seems that the soil under the grass is dumped on the grass and then the grass dies because it no longer receives light. It becomes a kind of tuber field. It is not possible to remove the feces by hand because there are hundreds of them every day.

After a long search I accidentally read that "Tea seed pellets" or "Tea seed powder" is apparently also widely used in Thailand for removing worms in rice fields, golf courses and even bird control at airports to deter birds that eat the worms. to hold. It is a harmless by-product of tea production, but not for the worms.

I want to try that but after a long search I don't know where to buy it. I would think that a company that sells all kinds of products for rice cultivation would be aware of it. But unfortunately.

Now I have read on Thailand blog that there are people who know about growing rice, etc. and the problems with it. Maybe they can answer my question?

My thanks are unspeakable.

Regards,

Wim

Excrement of 5 cm wide and 10 cm. high.
Didn't happen to have some elephants walking across your lawn?

Unfortunately I can't send a photo but I could take a photo with a ruler next to it.

Be glad you have worms in the grass.

In addition to the aforementioned "disadvantage" in the rainy season, they aerate the soil and make nutrients that are both necessary for a beautiful lawn. In addition, there are also some animals that they eat as a tasty and healthy meal.

It absolutely does not die from soil to grass and the term for the execution of this work is called "dressing" in the Netherlands

If it bothers you so much, you can also break up the heaps with a broom up to sight distance, but even better enjoy the fact that nature sees your lawn as a good habitat.

Try with some chicken. Maybe they can keep the worms under control a bit.

    Your worms are quite elastic.
    The volume of the worm is 3.14 x 0.5 x 0.5 x 40 = 31.4 cubic centimeters.
The content of the feces – assuming that it is 5 cm in diameter and the feces are round – is:
    3.14 x 2.5 x 2.5 x 10 = 196.25 cubic centimeters.

then the chickens “shit” the lawn under…..

Do as I did, remove the grass and replace it with ornamental stones {cobblestones}. Also beautiful. Cover the ground with plastic first so the weeds don't get a chance to grow.
