Are there so many Indians everywhere in Thailand?

Dear readers,

After 3 years I went to Thailand again for 4 weeks. Booked a 4 star hotel in Pattaya at Central Festival. When I go to my breakfast in the morning I feel like I'm in India.

The Indians chased the Russians away, it seems.

Are there several people who experience this?

Regards,

Henk

Actually, they were already there, but now they stand out even more. Because the Chinese, Russians and Ukrainians are all not there.

I am almost certain that it is currently the largest group of "real" tourists in Thailand. Most Westerners who are currently in Thailand already had a connection with the country. Thai girlfriend or Thai wife.

Henk, it will depend on your hotel, or the time of year, or the weather, or other things. Last time I was in a hotel near Pattaya and felt in Korea. But what is true, Thailand is actively promoting in India and those arrivals are increasing. By the way, there is nothing wrong with people from India, right?

Why are there no more Russians? What happened to the value of the ruble? Something to do with Ukraine perhaps?

indians are mainly in the south in the north they are hardly there
next year India will have more inhabitants than China
so there are a lot of indians one billion four hundred million people

If 0,1% of all Indians go on holiday to Thailand, the whole of Thailand will seem like Little India!
Ditto with the Chinese…, but that is less noticeable.
After 2 years of corona, the party will start again..

Many Indians stay in the hotels in soi 7 and soi 8. The Sunbeam in particular has reduced its prices considerably. And in the evening/night they walk on the boulevard and walking street. If you go more towards LK Metro, you will see them less.

  6. I stayed this summer in Pattaya hotel IBIS….2 weeks..not possible.Hotel was full of Indians..sometimes 30 people in the pool..mostly men..seen 4 women…go into the pool with their clothes…despite it is not allowed.Reception comes to complain but they don't care.

      Very right Ferdinand,

A few weeks ago I was also in a hotel in Pattaya for 5 days. The hotel (5 stars) was packed with Indians. Very arrogant, noisy, a lot of nuisance in the pool and during breakfast. I was glad I got out.

In June they were 4 men in 1 room in the Flipper Lodge hotel. Noisy until late at night. Alerted the reception at 3 o'clock and then it became quiet. The next day I approached the head of the reception. She said she had had several complaints and that she had given them a warning. On repeat, they were removed from the hotel. Of course it makes a difference that I have known her for 20 years and have been to the Flipper Lodge about 30 times.

The Indians did not drive out the Russians at all. The fact that there are far fewer Russians in Thialand has another, well-known, reason.
A tourist attraction city, such as Pattaya, does not give a complete picture of which population groups are located in a certain region. For example, here, in the province of Chumphon, where I live, it will be very difficult to find an Indian. Here they are mainly Skandinaven. Last weekend I was in Phuket for a while, and yes, there were Indians there, although it is sometimes very difficult to determine, especially at first sight, what nationality someone has.

I don't think they come to Kanchanaburi either.
      Can't remember seeing one before.
      English, Americans, Australians in multiples...

New groups of tourists do not automatically come to an area that is not so touristy, but must be 'helped'. This help is done by tour operators who also offer cheap trips and close deals with hotels and carriers.
For example, the Chinese came to Giethoorn and not to Ootmarsum, the Germans to Valkenburg but not to Workum.
In short: if a Thai tour operator arises that can entice the Indians to Kachanaburi, they will also come there. The rest is often word of mouth.

      Kanchanaburi not so touristy?

Appears on almost every TAT advertising campaign at home and abroad.
It hangs out in every travel agency in Thailand.

Let's just say that those Indians do not come to Thailand to travel around…

Well, I don't think so. There is only 1 reason why Indians come to Pattaya. Because in India it is simply impossible to get a date in a bar.

Everything is lumped together, are they all Indians? I certainly don't think so.
I have been coming to a restaurant in Soi 1992 of Sukhumvit road since 3 and there are about 15 people working here who look like Indians, but in reality they are people from Bangladesh and Pakistan.

You can also often tell whether they are Indians from the name of the restaurant, the word Halal and how they say hello or the language they speak. Often it doesn't get along between these 2 beliefs.
Personally I come to both groups for my Shawarma, Sish kebabs and Mutton Curry.
Well, they are a bit busy, but so are we, right?
