Are there beaches near Pattaya with good bathing water?
Dear readers,
My impression is that there are no beaches near Pattaya where the bathing water is good. Information I read shows that the treatment plants are not functioning sufficiently.
Apparently it is best to go to the island of Koh Larn. However, I read on Tripadvisor that several beaches there are also polluted. Videos of Koh Larn's beaches sometimes show quite a lot of rubbish. There are also stray dogs walking around which I don't like.
Does anyone have any advice for a clean beach with good or excellent bathing water near Pattaya or on Koh Larn? Or is that not there?
Regards,
Michiel

Not so far away you have to go to Sattahip, a beautiful white beach, clear blue sea
Sattahip, After Najomtien towards south there is very clean water. At the army base. The ocean side of Koh Lan is clean but you do have some traveling to do. First the boat from Pattaya, Bali Hai pier, then to the other side of the island by taxi.
Dear Michael,
Tripadvisor is right about this.
Open the satellite page on Google Maps and you will clearly see that the Pattaya and Jomtien beaches are both polluted.
If you search on the internet you will see that pipes also discharge “something” about 3/400 meters into the sea.
Koh Larn is an option if you want to be among a lot of day trippers.
Better still about 40 km south between Sattahip and Rayong; azure sea.
Suppl:
See the entry with photos on Thailand Blog from May 1, 2019,
about the sewage pipes that pollute the swimming water at Pattaya.
Head towards sattahip there is a Navy controlled beach and water is clean there
Problem or not, you have to organize transport there
Succes
I have been living there for a while and recommend that you get something with a large swimming pool, so you can swim every day. The sea is a disaster. Good for a dip, but I won't swim in it every day
I would love to take the boat to Koh Larn!! Super clean water. Many times cleaner than Pattaya and only a XNUMX-minute boat ride away…
Your impression is correct! Both Pattaya and Koh Larn are extremely polluted with, among other things, sewerage etc
By the way, stray dogs are running around EVERYWHERE (except in the Netherlands)
