Reader question: Why print your boarding pass at EVA Air?
Dear readers,
I regularly fly with EVA AIR from Amsterdam to Bangkok and back. About 24 hours in advance I check in online and print out the boarding pass. But every time I arrive at Schiphol or Suvarnabhumi I get a new boarding pass with the same information.
Why do I have to print it then? Isn't that double up?
Does anyone know why this is?
Regards,
Ronald
You can also see getting a new boarding pass as an extra service. Personally, I find the boarding pass that you get at the counter a bit more convenient. I always print the boarding pass at home first and then get a new one at the counter.
Perhaps people have regularly asked for a more convenient boarding pass that you do not have to fold, and does E
was a bit fast with shipping, last line should be: "and does Eva air do that as standard now".
Ronald,
I always did that too and for nothing as you indicate.
But you never get it, the last time I flew, we were going to emigrate, she asked if I had printed out the boarding pass. And right now I hadn't done it. Then that was no problem at all.
The original boarding pass still has a ribbed-tear edge.
This will be torn off after entering the gate.
Perhaps that's why?
You can also receive your boarding pass via email… you don't have to print anything…
I always travel with Eva air. And I don't print a boarding pass at all. I show my passport and my email confirmation and that is enough. So why would you want to print it out?
Ancient Chinese wisdom, I think. Not to follow for us 🙂
You are absolutely right, it is double work… checking in in advance and doing it all over again at the airport to queue in endless queues. I don't notice any improvement at all.
You don't have to print them out. Giving a passport is enough.
Who says you HAVE to print it out? I never do it when checking in online………
I've been flying with eva air elite class for years I've never had to print my boarding pass, book with bmr maybe that matters
Well,
That's why I no longer print out myself, in fact, there are poles at Schiphol, with online check-in and then you do that and then you still get a new card at the counter.
I think Eva Air still has to get used to this new technique.
At Air Asia everything revolves around online check-in, you even have to print your luggage label yourself on Don Muang and then hand in your suitcase.
The technology stands for nothing ha, ha.
Greetings Nico.
If you go to the check-in desk with only your passport, everything will be fine. Make sure you have checked in in advance with the correct names as in your passport.
Even if you check in at Schiphol and get your boarding pass printed out (from a check-in column), you will receive a new one after checking in your luggage. At least that's my recent experience. So that is indeed strange; apparently there is another error / imperfection in the system. The point of pre-checking in is not clear to me; I suspect that the systems are in a transitional phase and that eventually things will be a bit more streamlined. In any case, if you don't check in in advance you have to queue in a longer/slower queue so they encourage it.
Always fly with Emirates. Same procedure. If you don't have any luggage to check in, you can just walk through. Even with a digital boarding pass on your mobile. I never print my pass. Always have to check in luggage.
That printed boarding pass is in case you no longer go to the check-in counter. This is the case with all companies.
Hallo,
Have done that before, print it out, and don't do that anymore.
Do check in online and when I get to the desk I hand over the passports and the green card and that's all they need.
The previously selected seats via seat selection are usually also correct.
For example, if you only travel with hand luggage, you can get to the gate with your printed A4 sheet, but they will still print a new one when you board. Maybe there are too many trees somewhere.
Ah, so clearly.
Most people have to check in luggage anyway, so printing is not necessary.
And if you go on vacation for a few weeks, you usually have something
more than just hand luggage.
You can print at home yourself in case of "baggage drop off", as I always do at KLM.
I never have to pass the check-in desk… just put your suitcase in the machine, put on your own label and proceed to the gate with your own printed boarding pass.
I suspect that EVA air does not offer this service of baggage drop off.
I would inquire, because who wants to stand in a long queue if they don't have to?!
