Reader question: Where to book a hotel in Bangkok?
Dear readers,
We are going to Thailand for the first time in June and therefore also to Bangkok. Now we want to book a hotel, that's no problem, plenty of choice. But the question is where in Bangkok? This city is immense.
In which district/neighborhood should you be in order not to be too far from the tourist attractions?
Can we tell?
Regards,
Linda
I always go to New Siam 2. Really quiet yet right in the center.

Hi Linda,
It is difficult to advise you a hotel, because we do not know which places you want to visit and what price you want to pay. It is best to book a hotel not too far from a sky train station, then you can move quickly through Bangkok with a day ticket for about 3 euros. If you book something in Silom road you can also walk to the water taxi, with which you can easily reach the grand palace, wat arun, wat po for little money.
Success
Dear Linda,
Book a hotel near the Skytrain, then you are reasonably close to everything and take a day ticket for the Skytrain for 130 baht.
Henry
hey linda
My husband and I have been coming to Thailand for 20 years and Bangkok is of course part of it.. fascinating city should not be missed when visiting Thailand.
Before answering your question.. we advise you to book a hotel along the Chao Phaya river..
some examples..Chatrium hotel..Millenium hilton hotel ..Anatara riversite hotel..Cheraton hotel these hotels class..
also have a boat service that is free to the Taksin Bridge .. from there you can leave with all kinds of other boats to beautiful sights .. or you take the Skytrain that is also there at the Taksin Bridge .. take a day pass costs pp 140 Bath and you can drive it around until midnight .. get off at a stop, walk around a bit and get back on the Skytrain to get off a bit further and explore .. Very nice experience that Skytrain.
1 more hotel along the Chao Phraga is the Mandarin Oriental hotel that is TOP but also expensive.. it's just a tip that I give you.. if you had to stay near that hotel.. if it had to fit in your schedule, certainly going to have lunch in that beautiful hotel is definitely worth it.
If you have any questions you can always reach me at my email address.
Have fun with your search..and a Fantastic journey..to this FANTASTIC country
greetings brigitte and eddy
the center and most to see is near kao san road, very famous
when you have been to the palaces you walk to the river and you can take the boat taxi to china town, 10 minutes by boat, buy a ticket do not be afraid of the boat, the man on the boat has an eye on everything, if you has to get out, he sees everything even if it is very busy, and then you just go back with the boat taxi.
by boat you go from pier tha chang you can also ask for this, to pier ratchawong, if you are on the boat you will also see it at the pier, and back ask for a ticket to tha chang, very simple
also recommended, at the airport, you can go to the basement floor all the way down, at the train, there you have a stall and you can get a free map of bangkok that is on the counter
Linda As several people have already pointed out, I think it's important that you book a hotel near the BTS as otherwise you'll need a lot of time to get anywhere. If you have not yet decided what you want to visit, I would say right in the center: Rama I (IBIS or Mercure Siam) or one of the side streets, such as Soi 1 Kasem san 1 (guesthouses). In June it is rainy season and there is plenty to do in the vicinity of the Rama I. Have fun with your search.
Hallo,
We have been going to the Glow Trinity Silom for years, 1 minute walk from the skyline.
This one goes to the Sapan Taksin (s6) There you take the tourist boat or the
15 Bath boat and you come to all the sights.
Ask the hotel for a map of Bangkok.
The boat stops at the flower market, Grand palace, China town and you can also go to the Ferris wheel.
Once we got in to the end and had a 2 hour boat trip on the river.
Only provide 10 Bath pieces.
Aad
I would say: Rambuttri villa.
Affordable, in the nicest neighborhood of Bangkok, yet sleep without noise
Within walking distance of the water taxi that takes you everywhere!
Pleasure!
Personally, I am not a Bangkok enthusiast, but if you have never been to Bkk, it is of course a must
If you go to Bkk I recommend you stay in the old town (khao san Area) because then you are close to all the sights, I suppose you go to see something and not just to shop
A recommendation is and remains Lamphu Three Hotel (quietly located and yet central), but book in time, i.e. 2 to 3 months in advance
A nice alternative is the new Ibis riverside hotel, slightly less centrally located
Silom is for the shoppers, but if you know that for 100bht you will be taken from Khao san to Silom by taxi, I see no reason to stay in Silom
PS I don't know your plans, but keep Bkk for the last of your trip
Kind regards Herman
Our favorite Hotel is the Prince Palace Hotel Quietly located, but next to the canal where the water taxi will drop you off in the center of the center for 8 bath, 21 cents within ten minutes, a 15-minute walk after Chinatown and a 15-minute walk to Kao SanRoad. booking with a Dutch travel agency Greenwood travel that is also in the hotel, never sit in the center a lot of noise and everything is much more expensive,
Hi Linda,
We went to Thailand for the first time last year and split our days in Bangkok, coincidentally we first spent some days in a hotel in Sukhumvit (near the Skytrain) and the other days near the Chao Phaya River (near Khao San ). These are areas that everyone recommends I see here.
We have no preference afterwards because both places are close to other sights. If you want to see more of the luxurious, modern Bangkok (for example the large shopping centers), choose Sukhumvit. In the evening you are a bit closer to the so-called 'sex tourism', especially if you are at Nana station. A hotel close to the Chao Phaya River is again very nice if you want to discover Bangkok via boat (Chao Phraya Express Boat), such as the palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho. It is also ideal if you want to make trips by train to the River Kwai and Kachanaburi because you are close to Thonburi station. In the evening you are close to Kao San Road, it is cozy but very busy. We are around 30 years old and thought the audience was a bit too young. Do you choose Chao Phaya? We had a very nice (and cheap) hotel: Casa Nithra. If you really go to the River Kwai in the meantime, we thought it was ideal to first grab a hotel near the river and grab a hotel in Sukhumvit when you return.
Lots of fun!
The Best
Indeed BANGKOK is very big you have many reasonable hotels between soi 6 and soi 23 on Sukhumvit road
That is the best central part with many possibilities within walking distance.
I am also there that period…..have a nice trip in the Paradys
dear linda go to ever rich hotel. http://www.everrichhotel.com. you are close to skytrain, almost in the middle of bangkok and close to the dutch embassy. simple hotel to spend the night and not expensive. have fun in bangkok
My advice is to stay on the right side of the river in terms of hotel. I sat on the other side once and it hindered me a bit. I would like to leave my hotel in the evening and be in a busier area for good food, markets and fun entertainment areas. I like to sleep on a higher floor in terms of noise, which can sometimes cause problems due to the single-glazed windows. I think there are some excellent options mentioned by previous governors. I don't think there really is a perfect place. Sailing is a nice option. However, you do have to pay attention to what you are doing and what all those other boat customers are doing when getting on and off. The BTS and the MRT are convenient, but during the day outside rush hour, a taxi is also an excellent solution. You see more of the surroundings than zooming around in the air or underground. Oh, is the flower market? or what is this again? On the way back, pass by there and then continue or just stop!! I want to take a look here. In my experience, older Tuktuk drivers are also an option and will drive you for a reasonable price without any hassle. Often located in the side streets. And yes, I sometimes have problems with the transport drivers, but usually things go well for me. Usually I have a lot of fun and I don't really have that feeling with the BTS or MRT even though it is very efficient. But there is more to see in Bangkok than the tourist hotspots that are in all kinds of booklets or that can be seen at 1 on a trip where we tourists all race to. I walk quite a lot and yes, it is often a bit on the warm side and I don't really make any progress, but I don't want to miss the experiences. But I travel alone and maybe that makes me look at the tourist scene in Bangkok a little differently. You should certainly not avoid hotspots, but there is more.
We can wholeheartedly recommend the Narai hotel. Great breakfast, good WiFi, clean swimming pool and nice and central. You can also enjoy delicious Italian food in the restaurant downstairs, not expensive and delicious.
We have booked through Agoda ourselves and are very satisfied with this, there are also lockers.
We arrived in Bangkok on April 13 and are staying at Tara Place. Good hotel with excellent service. Sitting near the boat taxi, royal palace at 20 minutes walking distance. We are very satisfied with this choice.
Newsiam.org 4 hotels, good location, fair price.
At koasanroad, try New Siam who have 4 hotels all close together in different price ranges. I have been going every year for years and always book there
Prince palace has also been our favorite for years. Nice and easy to get to MBK by boat, but they charge ridiculous prices to be able to use the internet in your room for a few minutes. That is really outdated these days.
Keep in mind that the last boat sails at 20:00 in the evening.
Internet is now free at the prince palace hotel
At koasanroad, try New Siam who have 4 hotels all close together in different price ranges. I have been going every year for years and always book there
I am also going to Thailand with a friend in June. We start in Bangkok and have made a reservation at Rambuttri Village Inn And Plaza. Close to Khao San Road but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
