Dear readers,

My girlfriend was born in Korat, but has lived in Pattaya for many years. Now my question is, can she use the 30 bth scheme in a hospital in Pattaya? I think so, they don't.

I find it hard to believe that she has to go back to Korat for every medical intervention.

My question is, how can I arrange that for her in Pattaya? Because worrying about tomorrow or today is completely foreign to her, until the day when it is really necessary.

Thank you and goodbye,

Rudy

Very short, not valid… only valid in the district where she is registered, in this case Korat.

No that is not possible. You must go to a hospital in the city where you are registered for the 30 baht scheme.
So for your girlfriend that means she has to convert her home address to pattaya.

So in terms of formulation, the bottle is half full instead of half empty (see previous comments): yes, it is possible, provided that she is registered in her new, actual place of residence.

It does not say that she is not registered in Pattaya, only that she was born in Korat.

why don't you go to a private hospital? Still cheap and the treatment is fine. No long waiting times either. My wife doesn't like those municipal hospitals.

@Cor, Private cheap? Where do you get that from? I had an inguinal hernia surgery last year in a Government Hospital with 2 days hospitalization, cost Baht 11,000 (eleven thousand). The quote for the same operation at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital was Baht 150,000, nice and cheap!

It doesn't matter where you were born. As the above commenters already noted, it is about where you are registered in the civil registry (house registration). Even then you can only use certain hospitals in that area.
Incidentally, with the 30-baht scheme you can appeal to any hospital in acute cases. But yes, what is an acute case?

You can go to another hospital with a referral from the attending physician in the hospital assigned to you.

My parents-in-law live in Krabi, but are registered in Pathum Thani, and therefore visit the doctor there.

Cor advises going to private hospitals because it is cheap. Unfortunately, I use the hospital a lot and I can tell everyone that it is certainly not cheap, medications are overloaded and not to mention over-treatment. 3 days in ICU. heart monitoring 160.000 baht.Small infection on the shin, had to come back 5 times (exaggerated) 9000 baht. I'll spare you the rest. Also, if you are properly insured and you go to the Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok, you will have to pay extra for travel insurance. Travel insurance covers Dutch standards and Bangkok is more expensive.

For the little things I go to the central doctor's office in the village.
If it is a bit bigger, I will inform me a government hospital.
And if it gets serious, I'll report to a private hospital.

My friend and her children were enrolled in udon thani.
Provided that they took the house book with them to the Pattaya city hospital in soi bukaw, they were treated for free.
    Dentist, doctor, medicines all free.

    And now the official regulation:

Each hospital in a district (amphur, amphoe, amphuer) receives a budget from the Thai government for the 30-baht scheme per subscriber. So the government pays 30 baht to the amphuer hospital for a Thai registered person.

If this Thai needs medical help, he / she must FIRST go to this amphuer hospital with a doctor.
Should the doctor not be specialized in this patient's ailment, then this doctor may refer the patient to ANY Government Hospital in Thailand for the 30-baht scheme.

Therefore, this patient may not seek medical help directly in a hospital, where he/she is not registered in that district of the hospital.

    Exception:
Only in acute cases can the patient report to any Government Hospital in Thailand for the 30-baht scheme!
