Dear readers,

I have a question about a strange cemetery on the route from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son. This is located just before Tak directly along the route. No one can give me an answer so far. It's a strange harrewar was white crosses with strange text. The fact that people are buried there is certain because the ground has subsided at some graves. I took pictures (see above) and want to get information via Thailand blog.

Yours faithfully,

Peter

    What do I see?
Cross – grave of a Christian
Birth and death date clear – a registered person
Script – similar to Burmese, but also has some other elements
Location near the border of Burma – many refugees and ethnic minorities here

Through a Burmese dictionary and websites about Karens and Shans I come to a preliminary conclusion that it concerns a grave of a Christian Karen whose name starts with Ni….

Branch ? I know such a cemetery along the Chiangmai-Pai road, just before you reach Pai on the right. There are about thirty crosses with the same characteristics.

That's right. These crosses are scattered here and there in a forest. There are some that are old but also quite recent.
So Burmese inscription and a Burmese cemetery? I am happy with your information.

    Gr Peter.
