Dear readers,

In many hotel bathrooms, especially shower and bath room, you see many black edges in joints. This black stuff is a mold that could easily be removed in the Netherlands with various means.

However, in Thailand I can not find a product. Who knows the solution?

Incidentally, you also see this black a lot on buildings and other structures, especially on concrete. And it is also common in kitchens. Very unhygienic.

Yours faithfully,

Bob

HG (Dutch product) is simply for sale here. And they also have mold remover.

I think I've seen it in Big C too. Handy with Dutch manual on it :)

Try vinegar with lemon juice! Let it soak for a while and clean with a brush. !

I had sprayed my shower room well with HG, but the grout
(grout) between my bathroom tiles was also immediately gone.
The Dutch HG is stronger than the glue or cement joints which
they use in Thailand. HG is a good product but caution is
provided in Thai bath makers. Maybe try with natural or cleaning vinegar?

The problem with black algae is that it creates colonies where the outer layer of the colony dies and protects the inside when there is a threat such as chlorine. With chlorine, some goes away, but the black algae just comes back, as I think many have experienced with swimming pools. But copper sulfate, a blue powder, enters the black algae colonies, damaging the DNA (I'm told) and preventing the algae from reproducing. My swimming pool suffered from black algae in the cement between the tiles in the first few years, but by maintaining a PPM level of CU2 SO4, this problem has disappeared for more than 15 years. I now also spray with the watering can a mixture of detergent (reduce surface tension) and copper sufate on my paths and driveway (small). When it's dry, and it helps!! The same solution but a little stronger also works in bathrooms. Having said that, bathroom duck (macro) also works well, but beware phosphoric acid, it attacks marble. We use it for the 5th bathroom (outdoor bathroom) and the studio, which have no marble (and it works very well).

HG mold cleaner. Or dilute cleaning vinegar with water. Well, determine the required strength on a test piece. Simple, work perfectly.

    Dear Bob

You can buy the product overall, you have to apply it undiluted and leave it to work overnight, it is bleach, it does smell, but you will see the result and then rinse well

    regards
    John

      Hello John,

      Which product?

  8. Aart says up

You can often also remove it with bleach. Of course, your wall must be white. But that also has to be the case with HG products. Bleach is much cheaper. You will certainly clean grout very well with it. Use a toothbrush for it. You will immediately see it become clean.

    • grain says up

where do you buy bleach? Those yellow plastic bottles have disappeared from the shelf. Those other colors all smell the same but no bleach…

  9. January says up

hydrogen peroxide 35% in liter bottle.

    • grain says up

for sale at the drugstore? pharmacy?

  10. rob says up

A plant sprayer filled with vinegar also works fine, bleach is a bit more aggressive (often also found in anti-fungal products), but is difficult to find in Thailand. Let it work for a while, then remove / rinse away. Good luck.

Hi came across this website with HG products yesterday. http://www.naradee.com/shop/index.php?route=pavblog/blog&id=19
Must have something to help with.
I have also seen various HG cleaning agents in the gourmet market.

  12. Wim says up

Mold killers are usually based on chlorine and that bleaches but does not kill the mold.
The only thing that kills the mold is regular baking soda. No idea if that is also available in Thailand.

    • Joost M says up

caustic soda…available everywhere. We use good gloves. Also good for drainage and blockages

      • grain says up

can you provide a picture of the product?

  13. JRB says up

Just buy a bottle of Chlorine, put it in a spray bottle and then spray it on the spot.
    Cheap effective and simple

  14. Albert says up

Try it with vinegar and a brush.

Or even better with toilet cleaner (the green bottles),
even stronger is Farcent Clean Bathroom (purple 1 Gallon container).
Apply to the joints, let it soak in for a while and scrub with a brush and water.
Start at the bottom and work your way up to avoid being washed away by the water.

Sealant edges are difficult because it is often between the wall and the sealant,
then there is only 1 solution, namely put away the sealant, scrub it clean and apply sealant again.

  15. Marcel says up

The main component (of HG) is chlorine, and rubbing/spraying with chlorine does the job.
    Good luck! Marcel

The chemical name of soda is sodium carbonate.
If you use bleach or bleach or HG, the mold is guaranteed to come back!

    • lung addie says up

The soda used as a cleaner and dehumidifier is not sodium carbonate but the "caustic soda" chemical name of this soda is Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) and not Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3). It is made from salt (NaCl). Salt electrolysis produces two different products: Chlorine and Sodium. One is a waste product of the other. Major producer in Be : Solvay.
Use gloves and safety goggles when using because it is very aggressive. You don't immediately feel it on the skin ( but in the eyes ) but it "saponifies" the skin ... leaves dangerous chemical burns.
In Flanders people used to call it “duvel”.

      • rori says up

EH Duvel is something in a glass bottle with a crown cap and if you drink it, you will get a headache, right? Didn't know that the geder could also get rid of mold.

        • lung addie says up

haha ha…. yep, thought so.... certainly that is also Duvel, but you can drink it in moderation …. headache, no, it can get you really drunk…. very nice Belgian beer by the way.

and where in Thailand (Pattaya) to buy?

  17. Peter says up

    Makro,…scotch brite,…disinfectant floor cleaner.

  18. Eric says up

First buy a solid grout from weber mushroom free and then you can keep it under control.

  19. soul says up

when I go to Thailand again in Feb
get strong bleach from the supermarket
and toilet cleaner sprays the whole lot
and you can see the shower getting so clean, just brush it

  20. Jacques says up

    Try with hydrogen peroxide!

  21. Albert says up

    About soda.
I have never seen the household soda (the well-known Drie Hoekjes, sugar-like structure) in Thailand. However, the so-called Caustic Soda (shard-like flakes) is sold here as an unclogging agent.
These two are definitely not the same, the caustic soda is very abrasive.

As a soda substitute, you could try baking soda or baking soda.

  22. rori says up

Just with bleach. Kills the fungus and white makes white again.

  23. rori says up

Hydrochloric acid solution also wakes and also helps with limescale and makes concrete white. Oh rinse well

  24. rori says up

soda salt?? Caustic soda also works

  25. Walter says up

Chlorine also for sale in Thailand works wonders

    • rori says up

      bleach is chlorine??

  26. Marc Breugelmans says up

There is a product on the market in Thailand that is sold everywhere , a detergent that is particularly suitable for tackling these stains and keeps them against for a long time.
The product is called HAITER and is packaged in light yellow buses, so you can find this with the detergents, it is a liquid that you pour over the stains, preferably pure, but can also be diluted to a maximum of 50%.
They wait half an hour to spray it off with water, the result is a beautiful new-looking surface, the mold stays away for a long time.
The product should not be sprayed off too well, there may still be residues, after all, they will remain effective for a long time.

  27. Pete Young says up

    Another alternative
Buy duck purple bottle of cleaning agent and spray it pure on it. Brush it off with water after 10 minutes.
    The limescale also disappears
    For sale in every supermarket

an effective and natural way is to treat with Effective Micro Organisms. For information about this Google or email to [email protected], he is a supplier.

  29. grain says up

Thank you ALL contributors. Go try it out. Thailand will become beautiful white.

  30. rori says up

    Maybe this helps

Chlorine as we use it in bleach is a dilute solution in water or gel.
In other situations, Chlorine or CL can form another bond and be stronger or less strong (be aggressive).
So we know caustic soda and hydrochloric acid.
Moster gas also comes from chlorine so chlorine really helps.

You can also buy bleach or bleach at a store with swimming pool supplies. DIY store, Big-C, Makro etc

  31. rori says up

Tesco or Big C. Haiter bleach in 2500ml plastic bottles purple, pink or yellow. in the detergent department
