Reader question: Moving from Thailand to Belgium
Dear readers,
I came to Thailand nine years ago and also worked here for about six years with a work permit. Now I have been retired for three years and have always stayed in Hua Hin until now. I would have liked to return to Belgium now.
At the time, I had practically all my household effects transferred to Thailand through a Belgian company. However, now that I want to return to Belgium, I wonder if I can return part of my household effects to Belgium?
Could someone give me an address of a company in Thailand where I could send a small part of my original household effects back to my home in Belgium?
I await your responses.
Thanks in advance,
Frank

Dear Frank,
my move from Belgium to here was done by Windmill and with great satisfaction.
I'm assuming they're also going in the opposite direction.

There are dozens of "freight forwarders" in TH.
The most convenient: as additional cargo for a container, which will go to NL / B anyway.

Every Dutch-Belgian company has connections with transports to and from a country. Perhaps you can approach your old company or search for a company in Belgium/Netherlands/Europe that does this via Google.
For example, I had wood and garden benches transported from Thailand. They have agents all over the world. They also do the customs clearance. Sometimes a ship arrives in Amsterdam/Rotterdam, and customs clearance and transport to Belgium are then taken care of. Or it arrives in Antwerp. The difference in cost is insignificant. They will look into that for you. I would take care of transport insurance. That is not so expensive from Thailand, because if your ship sinks, you can at least declare it.
Success.

Hallo,
Yes, you can send your household effects to Belgium!
I did it myself four years ago.
I am currently in Tenerife and cannot immediately send you the details of the company I contacted.
It was a firm from Chiang Mai!
I myself lived in Uttaradit!
They came with a container in front of the door and packed all the furniture very neatly with special plastic…..it took those men two days.
Then I had to close and seal the container,
That company took care of all my papers.
I had to write down what was in the boxes!
I even took my bicycle with me in the container!
The container then left for my animal in Uttardit and they left for the same time.
Everything was neatly checked there… and my container was put on the boat!
From then on, the responsibility was in the hands of the Belgian firm… and it was Ziegler!
They constantly track where the ship is until it arrives in Antwerp.
You can also have it delivered to Rotterdam!
The total crossing took about six weeks by boat!
I had a full container…
There the container has to go through customs… that takes about two days and you don't have to pay import because it is a move!!
And the Ziegler company does everything for you!
This is how the container, which was still sealed, stood at my door!
I had a door that was damaged during transport and the company from Chiang Mai paid it back nicely!
It does come with a cost…..I think I paid 250.000 baht for the company in Chiang Mai and another 2500 euros for Ziegler
The people at Ziegler also put all my furniture in place and put it together.
So…..that's my story!
I will let you know all the information as soon as possible due to The company in Chaing Mai!
Simply type in Ziegler on the PC and you will also receive all the information there!
Best of luck!
Linda
Hello Frank,
I don't remember the address, but the company is called Santa Fee and they work together with an international moving company that is based in Antwerp. Normally you don't have to do anything, packing and stuff. This Santa Fee company is located in BKK at the harbor.
I had my container shipped here with it.
