Dear readers,

As a happy man now living alone, in possession of a 'yellow home book', I am moving to a resort in another province far away from my ex-thailove. But now I have some questions.

Do you first have to deregister from the old “Municipality/Amphur” and then from the new one? Or can you immediately report to the new “Municipality/Amphur” without deregistering first? And then you can just keep your yellow book or not, after all it contains your Thai ID number and has its advantages?

What is needed when you register in your new place of residence? Blue booklet from the owner of the land or is a copy sufficient or does the person also have to come along?

Who has experience with this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yours faithfully,

Peter

I was able to report directly to the Amphur in the new place of residence. The required papers were as follows, Passport with valid visa status, rental contract or proof of property ownership. The yellow book will then state the new address and the date thereof.

I have lived in 1989 different addresses and different villages, towns, districts in Thailand between Dec.2011 and July 20 and have never registered in any register. I have informed the Dutch Embassy a few times where I lived, but not always. Why should that?
Of course my marriage with a Thai, which I entered into on an Amphoe, was registered where my ex came from. On the same Amphoe I also divorced again and I assume, also written out. But as far as I know I have not been registered as a residential address there either.
I've never heard of a "yellow" or "blue book". Sometimes it's easy to be a little naive. I will be relocating this year but will have 2 or 3 places where I will temporarily stay, as this time I will receive state pension and state pension I will need to provide an address and that will be the address of my daughter's in-laws. Maybe I'll get married too? and that shall be registered in place of my betrothed when I marry. Nothing else. Am I so "wrong"?

You're not wrong at all. What you do depends on your personal circumstances. In my case I sometimes have to prove my place of residence. I had the yellow book translated and it turned out to be a useful tool. Not everyone needs that.

    Hello Peter,

it sounds like being alone again is a release. Understand completely.

We (still), had the same thing happen a few months ago.
As far as the residential address is concerned.

Yes, best first in the old residence to the Amphoe or in some cases
the Tessaban building. They have a form for that, and it costs nothing.
Return old book. Make a copy first!
Then in the new municipality indeed with the owner of the blue book, in
my case was that the girlfriend kindly request a new one.
Take a copy of the old booklet, deregistration form and passport with you.

    Sincerely,

    John.

Dear Peter, I recently formally moved from Raikhing, Nakonpathom Province to Khao Yai, Petchaburi Province. I first had to deregister and report to the municipal office in my new place of residence with proof of deregistration. My 'old' yellow house book was confiscated and a new one was provided. I had to present my passport (visa) and my wife's Thai ID card. We also both had to sign a declaration in which my wife declares that she gives me permission to live in her house and I declare that I actually live there. It was arranged in half an hour. Perhaps unnecessarily: 'our' house is in my wife's name.

stories about the yellow book every time…. Says as little in Thailand as Mao's book. If necessary, you can simply get a Certificate of Residence for one thing or another. For a small amount and you rarely need it. So why all the trouble for a (yellow) house book?

      Dear Ger
For example, to buy a motorbike or car, you really need such a yellow house book and you will not get very far with a Certificate of Residence .... even if you want something more from a bank than just an account, you have a lot of support from it ... also do you have an official ID number in Thailand extra proof for "Heerlen" that you actually live here etc etc
      Greetings Pete

Dear Ger, the yellow book has its value. Firstly, the official proof that you live in Thailand. Secondly, the homeowner cannot evict you alla minute.
