Two-step verification and different mobile number?

Dear readers,

Does anyone have a solution for the two-step verification where you get an email and a text message to your mobile?

I want to go away for 3 months but then I probably have a different mobile number! This also applies to my DigiD verification that sends an SMS to your mobile number. Those are costs abroad that I am not waiting for.

I hope people understand a little what I mean. Not much understanding about this.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Jill

If you only use your mobile for SMS verification, those costs are not high at all.
If DIGID sends a text message, you temporarily open your NL SIM card. It is useful to restart your mobile after opening your SIM card.
Email verification can be solved by taking a temporary mobile number in the country where you want to stay for 3 months so that you can read your emails.

More and more mobile phones have a slot for 2 SIM cards, and a few even have a MicroSD in addition (this is why I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro). Before you receive the code, also turn on your NL sim, and close it immediately after you have the code. Can cost you a "few" cents at the most.

    Receiving SMS abroad costs nothing.
Just pay attention if you use the NL sim that the mobile data is off.

    Dear Jill,

Put the DigiD app on your phone, then you are not only dependent on that SMS.

You can now also log in with your ID card, if it is from after March 13, 2021.

A few years ago for my daughter's study grant in NL I also needed a DigiD and then activated the APP method and then logging in is very simple: Enter login code, request a link code, scan the QR and I am logged in. No text or email!

I receive text messages in Thailand on my Dutch number, it costs nothing.

I have an Iphone 11 and it only has room for 1 SIM card.. I purchased an E-SIM from my provider KPN, which is free if you already have a number, and I've had a Thai SIM card for years. I used to have to change SIM cards every time on the plane, now I just leave my Thai card in place and now I have 2 numbers that I can use.. very handy! Don't forget to turn off your NL card when you are in Thailand of course.
