Reader question: Tips for renting a house on Koh Samui
Dear readers,
After spending 3 weeks on Koh Samui last year to train Muay Thai kickboxing, I want to go back next summer for a month.
Last time I stayed in the gym and rented a fairly expensive room there. I was wondering if anyone has any tips for renting a house/apartment on Koh Samui?
I would like to use your knowledge and experience. Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Piet
Hi Pete,
Chaweng or Lamai?
I do know some addresses on Lamai.
http://www.ptkresidence.com/
Look at promotion for 1 month
Stayed in a guesthouse in Lamai last April for 8000 Bt. Had to pay approximately 600 Bt at the end of the month. pay extra for electricity. and water. Might be a little more expensive in the summer. Within walking distance of the Gym. Large room with conservatory (street view). Double bed. Bathroom with shower and toilet. Air conditioning, flat screen, refrigerator, kettle, plates and cutlery. Free WIFI. Neat and clean, clean sheets and towels every other day. I had a great time there. I don't know if I helped you with this, maybe you were in Chaweng. I don't remember the name of the Guesthouse, but I do have the telephone number:
0066-862707292. Good luck.
Dear Piet, perhaps no answer to your question because you are (per se?) looking for a house/apartment, but I have trained in Lamai at http://www.lamaimuaythaicamp.com/ en http://www.wechpinyomuaythai.com/ . In Lamai and outside the center on the ring road you can find enough accommodation around 500 baht and even cheaper if you don't mind very basic.
Both are also within walking distance of the center and close to the beach, the center of Lamai is simply speaking as you may know, basically one long street parallel to the beach with shops, restaurants, beer bars, massage places and accommodation.
Didn't stay there but met training mates staying in http://www.sawadee.de/hotel/677324/Magic-Resort http://richresortsamui.com/ en https://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Hut-Bungalows/192063657518705, the latter is opposite Wech Pinyo.
I stayed in myself http://greencanyoncliff.com/index.php
Incidentally, both Muay Thai camps can be highly recommended.
Hello Piet,
I also don't have a ready answer to your question....
But, perhaps a good alternative, I have been training in Cha Am for quite some time now with Rosalie Berghuis (former Dutch champion) and her friend Poth (former Thai champion and trainer of Albert Kraus).
Jojorina Baars (now world champion) also trains there a few times a year. And Cha Am has much more to offer besides this. And many good and reasonably priced places to stay.
Anyway, good luck with your training
Kind regards,
Rick
Bye Pete. Have you trained at Superpro Samui? I don't know how long you are going and what your budget is. An option is to first book a hotel and then start looking. There are many houses / apartments for rent. Signs are on the road.

How about just looking at airbnb.nl and entering your maximum price per night…
