Dear readers,

At the end of April we hope to go to Phuket, Patong Beach for two weeks. During our holiday we would like to do a number of things in the area from Patong Beach. We do not rent a car, but may be able to get to a number of places by boat or car.

Who can give us tips for fun activities without a lot of travel time? We would like to snorkel, do something with a boat, book a jungle safari, go to an elephant reserve or visit a city. All tips are welcome!

Greetings,

elize

If you really want to see Thailand go elsewhere
Phuket is only sun, sea and drinking Pathong Street. You can book all kinds of trips there, but they are extremely expensive, like everything in Phuket. So look on the Internet and look for something other than Phuket because that is not Thailand. And you can do all the things you want to do from almost all cities/areas. Good luck

You can go by car on the island to:
Wat Chalong. A beautiful large Temple complex daily where there is much to see.
The Big Buddha. You can take a staircase to the foot of the Buddha. Here you have a beautiful view over the island. There is everything to buy and see. Nowadays you can also visit the Buddha. It's a nice trip.
Or go eat some delicious fish in Rawai. A village on the sea. The people sell pearls and fresh fish.
The fish you buy on the market can be prepared immediately in a restaurant. You can't get fresher than this. You've never eaten crab, lobster red snapper or king prawns this delicious.
Buy a pearl necklace as a reminder. Nowadays men also wear pearls, but then the black pearl as a bracelet.
You can also go to the zoo or watch a sunset from the beautiful view of Promteb.
    Happy Holidays!!!!!!

A visit to the orchid farm in Rawai, canoeing and snorkelling past nay harn beach, ya nuibeach, you can rent snorkelling equipment and swimming gear there, book a Thai tour guide who will accompany you to the neighboring islands (just google it), the sea aquarium in chalong with its wide variety of fish from this area, the waterfall of Kathu, laze on deserted beach at the end of Bang Bao beach there is a small island there, visit the sarasin bridge. The Phuket fantasy show is also worth seeing.

In Patong you may have 100 smaller and larger offices that offer all the excursions you want, often dirt cheap (day tour depending on the tour around 25-30 euros PP) you will be picked up at your place of residence and brought back incl. tour .

    Hi Eliza,
Keep an eye on the weather forecast every day…because if it has rained you don't have to go snorkelling…better wait a few days.
A very nice boat trip is John Grey's Hong by Starlight… you leave later so you are not in the crowd, highly recommended !!
There is also a temple/cave with wild monkeys [be sure to hold everything tight! hahaha]
The Sunrise Cruise from Simba is a very good way to do Phi Phi Islands, .... you leave here very early, so less bothered by the masses [ do not underestimate this ] ... book as soon as possible because it fills up very quickly because they only Bringing 15 people at the same time… delicious!
    lots of fun !

    phuket is not the cheapest island but for us still the best of all, in terms of touring with the moped that is feasible in 1 day to drive all the way around the southernmost side (definitely do it: fantastic views!) delicious fish and seafood on the special restaurants at sea (free boat trip from the mainland) rang hill in phuket town, beautiful view of the city itself, we personally found the boat trips very cool only james bond island has become too commercial; we found the best trip at sea to be the kayak tour in pnang nang: very beautiful nature and also a special experience for the children in the caves: hopefully the water is not too high then; also simon cabaret is a must (15 to 18 euros pp) great evening entertainment, rafting is also in our top 3; this is a 1,50 hour drive, but you can combine that with an elephant ride or a commando style climb high in the trees there; but we like to discover everything ourselves by motobike, once outside patong the traffic is no longer so hectic and it is best to drive towards karon beach to the end point and on to big buddha if you still have time left; the most beautiful swimming spots are still near kata noi, where the water is still very pure, and not like at kamala beach where the sewer flows into; we usually go for 3 weeks and that is long enough! the real Thailand is of course in the north (chang mai, chang rai etc..) but if you like beaches, shopping, food ... we still prefer phuket ; and hopefully the bath is around 40, then it is really cheap there for us Europeans; but you have to know the right places; and it is a give and take, but the smile is always there, but you get much more in return! the fonzie from the kempen;

We have been coming to Phuket regularly for years and now know where to find the nicest places.
    Our best things are:

    1. Sabai Corner restaurant (http://www.sabaicorner.com/)
Insanely beautiful restaurant with views over various bays. Difficult to find so take a picture of the directions on the site. The taxi driver knows where to find it. The Sabai Corner staff will arrange transportation to take you back to your hotel or resort.

    2. Khao Rang Breeze restaurant (http://www.phuket.com/phuket-magazine/khao-rang-breeze.htm#)
Very nice restaurant with a view over Phuket Town. Delicious food and for little money (compared to the Netherlands).

    3.Phuket Night Market (http://www.phuket.com/shopping/weekend-market.htm)
Every Saturday and Sunday you can go here for shopping and eating. Delicious food and lots of clothes etc. for much lower prices than in Patong. Also, the exhibitors here are mostly Thai and not Indians or Pakis (who can be annoying and pushy at times).

    4.Bangla Road
The entertainment street of Patong Beach. You can hardly miss. Not on the beach side, but on the other side of the Bangla is a nice restaurant Kitchen. Here you can enjoy delicious food. Tiger Disco is by far the most visited nightclub and is great fun. My parents (50+) even enjoyed going once. You also have the Happy Night Bar, you just have to go there. Watch and enjoy I say.

    5.Yorkshire Inn Hotel (http://yorkshireinn.com/patong-hotels)
If you don't have a hotel yet, I can highly recommend this hotel. Lovely hotel, quietly located, yet in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

    6. Rawai Beach boat trips to Komodo Beach (Coral Island) and Bon Island (Koh Bon).
Because you are going in the rainy season you might have a bad day in Patong (or elsewhere on the west coast). Be aware that you also have beaches on the other side of the island, where there is often a different air current (over the mountains). Sometimes the weather is bad all day in Patong, but Rawai Beach is a great place to stay. We have been once in October and have therefore avoided a lot of bad weather. So definitely go to Rawai Beach (have a nice breakfast at the English Coconut Bar and restaurant (http://www.tripadvisor.nl/Restaurant_Review-g297934-d1535468-Reviews-COCONUT_Bar_Restaurant_Rawai_Beach-Rawai_Phuket_Town_Phuket.html) at the beach.

    7. Freedom Beach / Patong
By far the most beautiful beach in Phuket (my opinion). At the far left of Patong Beach (if you are facing the beach) you will find several boats that will take you here. It's not cheap, you just pay 40-50 euros for 4 people there and back, but it's definitely worth it. There is so much fish that when you bring or buy bread there, they eat right out of your hands. The water is super clear and there are beds for rent that you can lie on. This beach is only accessible by boat.

    8. Paradise Beach / Patong
This beach can be reached by taxi or tuk tuk. Nice beach, just next to Patong Beach. There are also enough beds here.

    9. Koh Phi Phi / Maya Bay
Take a day trip to Phi Phi and Maya Bay. While you're there, don't miss this. Just make sure you get to Maya Bay as early as possible (before 9am if possible). Then you can take the most beautiful pictures. Also ask if the tour goes to monkey island, and then bring some fruit for the monkeys. But watch out, they'll take it from you so be careful.

    10. Bo Beach Bar
It is always nice to talk to other Dutch people, they may also have tips for you. Willem and Bo have a nice tent on the beach of Patong. You can get here quite easily. Walk down Bangla Road on the beach side and then turn right onto Beach Road. After about 100-200 meters you have a narrow alley with a large bar in the middle on your left (about 100 meters after McDonalds Cafe). Go in there, here you will find Bo Beach Bar at the end (before the beach). Always cosy!

I hope you find the tips useful!

    Happy Holidays.
