Home » Reader question » Reader question: Tip for fish restaurant and sunbeds on an island
Dear readers,
My wife and I are going to Thailand again. First to Bangkok. We stay at the Ibis riverside hotel in the Banlamhulang district and would like to go to a nice + affordable (fish) restaurant. Who has a tip?
Furthermore, we are not sure which island is best to go to. We have already seen Phuket and we think it is much too expensive. We would prefer to go to an island where sunbeds can be rented. We are not the youngest anymore.
After Bangkok we first travel to the north and want to visit Burma for a few days. We would also like to receive tips on this.
Thank you very much for your effort and best regards,
Ton
Take the bus from Bangkok to Rayong. (about 3 hours). Buy a ticket for the boat and within 30 minutes you are on the beautiful Koh Samet. Small island with various resorts. Beach chairs and evening meals on or along the beach. Rest and more rest.
Hi Ton,
I was in Ao Nang (Krabi) last March, no sun beds on the beach itself, only some beds without pillows under trees. Also on Koh Phi Phi I have not seen any sunbeds. Yes at the pool of the hotel, but there were no umbrellas!
So if I were you, go google really good.
So I'm just going back to Koh Samui where I've been coming for 20 years and lying on a lounger with a cushion and parasol.
Have a nice holiday,
Regards Anita
Ibis Riverside is indeed a nice hotel in terms of location,
There are flights from Chiang mai (Lamphu hotel is recommended in chiang mai, centrally located and not expensive) to Mandalay and then you can fly back from Yangoon to Bkk, I don't know how much time you have, but if you also want to do Burma, I hope that you have provided more than 3 to 4 weeks
Koh chang is still recommended if you are looking for a beautiful island
Personally I think Ao Nang is recommended, you can go to Railey beach and on a day trip to the Phi Phi islands, for me the most beautiful coastal region of Thailand, you have everything there without getting the touristy feeling of Phuket
A few days to Burma is much too short, it is such a beautiful and nice country to go to. Do not forget to go to Bagan, it is really beautiful and impressive. Personally, I think Koh Chang and Koh Samed are wonderful islands for Thailand. Anyway Thailand and Myanmar is always enjoyable. Have fun.
Koh Lanta
Glassroom has delicious steamed fish for a good price. It is located at punawiti station.
Just came from krabi, super beautiful and definitely take a boat trip.
Enjoy
