Dear readers,

Good evening, after an earlier question to you regarding the Thai driver's license (for the motorcycle / scooter) I'm going to try to get it next summer. This summer we are in our house in Chiang Mai, instead of a tourist visa I applied for and received a non-immigrant O for 3 months (within 1 day, by the way).

With this visa and a “rental contract” and the TM30 form we will then go to immigration for a proof of residence. Hopefully I will get this, and then a health check and then on to the Transport and land office for a theory exam and finally a practical exam.

Of course I will have to study for the theory exam, it won't be very difficult, but failing will not do my reputation with the family any good. And I have often been a joker because I thought an exam would be very easy, so I want to spare myself that embarrassment. I found 3 sets of questions and answers on the internet, but they are from 2018 and I think they are already outdated. My sister-in-law sent me the link of: www.thaidriveexam.com, That's a nice site but the English version is a direct google translate translation so sometimes the question is unclear or the answers. The first time I got 8 questions wrong but 4 were actually due to unclear question or answer.

My question to you, does anyone know a site with the recent questions and answers? Or something of that nature. Preferably the questions on a PDF so that I can go through them at my leisure. And possibly a site with the questions like on www.thaidriveexam.com but with a real English translation.

Naturally, I first checked Thailandblog to see if there was anything there, except for the procedure explanation from 2018 from Chiang Rai, I can't find anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Emil

If you have a national and international driver's license, you can normally get your driver's license without an exam, but you must bring the documents you have already mentioned in order. You also need a medical certificate that you can obtain from any local doctor. Just take a reaction test and color test (no big deal) and then watch a movie for an hour and you will immediately receive your driver's license. Passport photo is taken on site. I applied for and obtained both the motorcycle license and the car license simultaneously (valid for 2 years). I renewed it this year, took another medical certificate and color and reaction test and now have a driving license for 5 years for both motorcycle and car. And this was in Chiang Mai, so I will inquire locally what the current requirements are.

I don't live in Chang Mai Region, but in Nong Prue (Pattaya Region).

I got my driver's license last January. I was in possession of an international Belgian driving license. I didn't have to do a theoretical exam. Just make sure you have the necessary papers and photocopies with you. Then undergo 7 tests with 3 foreigners. The colors of the traffic light. (note that in Thailand they do not say orange but yellow) the braking test and with 2 sticks, a deep vision test. And that was it. Then pay 205 bath, take a photo and that's it. Had to be there at 08.30:10.00 am and at XNUMX:XNUMX am I was back home with my driver's license.
2 weeks before it had cost me more time when I went longest, to ask which papers I had to submit.

Thanks, but I only have my driving license in the Netherlands, so that's why I want to get my motorcycle in Thailand. The point is that I have a valid driver's license when I ride my sister-in-law's scooter, which saves hassle with insurance and possibly the police.
