How to cook Thai shrimp?

Dear readers,

They are again available in four different sizes from 260 to 340 baht, fresh Thai shrimp. Because we have limited resources here to cook for ourselves, which we do once or twice a week, I would like to make fresh shrimps.

Not difficult in itself, at home we sometimes buy frozen scampis, let them thaw, fry them in some finely chopped garlic, tomato puree and cream and that with some bread. But here they are so fresh.

Because we once got to taste it in Cambodia on Lake Ton Lesap during an excursion so fresh from the cooking pot, peel and dip in ground pepper with lime juice. Delicious. So I would also like to try it out in the simplest way possible.

There must certainly be several readers among the readers who sometimes prepare this or may have cooked caught North Sea shrimps themselves at home. At two positions I also see a few people peeling shrimp and removing the intestinal tract.

Who has suggestions for how long to cook and should salt be added and so on?

Regards,

Guido

You want to keep it simple. OK. We often too. Buy fresh shrimp from the fishing boats if you can. So at the fishing port. There you can ask (and they do) if they clean the shrimps for you. They are then baking or cooking / ready - (just wash them carefully at home) to dry on a tea towel.
Bake in the frying pan with butter and just add salt and pepper to taste. You can decide for yourself what you eat with it.
This also applies if you prefer to cook them.
    It can be that simple

    Enjoy your meal

The Dutch shrimps are already cooked,
    So peel and eat,
Baking in Thailand with garlic and onions, a little sugar and baking in a little bit of butter, add oyster sauce if necessary and a nice baguette, enjoy your meal
Do remove the intestinal tract above and below there are people who don't do that, we do

Gray shrimps (Dutch?) are never fresh. Have already had a very long truck ride back and forth to Morocco. Where they are peeled and cleaned. And then buried under the preservative.
So following advice, buy them fresh from the port in Thailand. Enjoy your meal.

    Simply look on the Internet

    How do you cook shrimp

Fill a large saucepan three quarters full with water and add two tablespoons of salt.
Put the water on the stove and bring the water to a boil.
Depending on the amount of shrimp, let it cook for 3-5 minutes.
Drain the shrimp and let the shrimp cool.

Why do some Thai shrimp have upper and lower intestinal tracts? at 1 kg / approx. 50 pieces you will come across it about 15 times.

We always wash the shrimps before baking, dab them dry with a tea towel. I think the Spanish way is the best: just with all the trimmings in a pan with a tablespoon of hot (olive) oil, not too large portions at a time, then salt and pepper, and some crushed garlic as soon as they turn pink. 4-5 minutes: done and eat!

First wash and dry the fresh shrimps well.
Richly Olive oil or coconut oil in the baking pan and fry the chopped garlic in it until they just start to color. (Add salt and pepper to your own taste)
Then add the shrimps, and fry until they are pink / red colored.
Pan on the table and serve with Baguette.
Dip the baguette in the oil.
Possible dipping sauce, yogurt with mayo and lime juice.
    enjoy your meal!!

Have ever made shrimp croquettes here in Thailand, but the shrimp has no taste.
I love shrimp croquettes, but only with Dutch or Norwegian shrimp!

I wouldn't dare to say, I don't make them myself because I can buy the perfect ones here at Joma who makes them herself and supplies them to restaurants and the like. They taste very good like shrimp and I don't think he will use North Sea shrimp for that.
