Dear readers,

I've already read a lot on Thailandblog, but I can't find the right info. I plan to emigrate to Thailand next year, but I don't know if I will still pay tax on my construction pension if I deregister in the Netherlands.

Your reaction please.

Regards,

John

As of 1-1-2024, NL will levy tax on pensions. Search with below:

John, the new tax treaty between NL and TH is expected to take effect on 1-1-2024.

As far as is currently known, NL will then levy taxes on all pensions, both public-law pensions ('civil servants' pension', which is already the case…) and occupational pensions. AOW and other benefits from the security are already taxed in the Netherlands and will remain so. Study the link Kees-2 provides above.

Other treaties will apply to countries other than TH; this also applies to the amount of the state pension.

Actually, it is of course also logical that the pension is taxed in the Netherlands, it is income earned in the Netherlands, on which no tax was paid at that time.
In the current tax treaty you have to pay tax in Thailand, but I don't think that will yield so much for Thailand that they will make it a breaking point in a new treaty.
