I have a question that I hope someone can help me with? I have had an affair with Jin for 4 years. We recently got engaged and we want to get married. Two and a half years ago, Jin caused an accident in a torrential downpour with bodily injury to the opposing party. Unfortunately, the car insurance had just expired 2 days ago.
For this she was sentenced to 6 months in prison. She appealed with a lawyer and on 19-7-2023 the trial was held and she was sentenced to 6 months anyway. She sent me another message from court telling me she had 6 months and then contact was cut off.
I would now like to find out what prison she is in so that I can see if I can help her. I know it's wise to do that with someone from Thailand because it's probably not helpful to let them know she's in a relationship with a European (financially, pressure).
Does anyone know how I can find out where she is. She has been sentenced at the court in Chiang Rai.

Peter, watch out. This could well be a scam. Let that detective agency first find out if it's true that she's in prison. Better yet. Take your hands off it completely and find another woman. Because who drives around without insurance? That's a red flag. You shouldn't want to start with such a woman. If her own family didn't buy her out of prison, I certainly wouldn't do it myself.

Fortunately, I myself have not become wise through trial and error.
Ask her lawyer. He/she will know if they can help you on your way.
With a copy of the ID card to the lompak (police station) they can tell where she is.
I think as a betrothed you could have been informed by her of her whereabouts; if not by herself, then by her lawyer and otherwise by her family and/or friends. Because won't anyone around her know where she is staying, as well as her lawyer? Then you will be scammed, scammed.
As her fiancé I will go to the nearest police station and ask for information or else you can immediately report a scam.

I asked my neighbor who is head of the traffic police here,
he once laughed, and said impossible.
At the same time, he also said that every prisoner is entitled to 1
phone call per week.

It surprises me regularly how many likes are given to comments of which you say, would you solve that after a relationship of 4 years.
A scam can never be ruled out anywhere, but if the innkeeper trusts his guests, it will soak through this again.
I hope for Peter that he gets his requested answers, and if Jin was aiming for money, I think she would have left some more info.

A lot of people who react in a negative way, I really know that there are money figures walking around in Thailand, but I wasn't waiting for this kind of reaction.
In the 4 years that we have been together, money has never been discussed, she has a good job and can take care of herself but was not going to tell everything when I called, apparently there are people who do not trust other people people and assume the bad in advance.
For them, there are also a lot of women in Thailand who go for love and not for money. Accept people as they are, cultural differences are everywhere and if you have bad experiences, ask yourself whether you should put other people through this.

I'm glad to hear she's in jail and you're not being scammed.
However, it is not that I need to consult myself; your story and the fact that people have been scammed in this way gave me the reason in combination that she is your fiancee and it is very strange that she keeps you in the dark, for me.
